Once a sleepy fishing village, Playa del Carmen has grown into a popular tourist destination. The nearest airport is Cancun International Airport. The second-busiest airport in Mexico, it is located approximately 55 kilometers to the north of Playa del Carmen. The airport is connected to the resort by regularly scheduled bus service and hotel transfers. Buses from Cancun arrive at the Riviera bus depot at the intersection of Juarez and Quinta avenues. You can also fly into Cozumel International Airport and take the ferry across the bay.
