The entertainment, night shows, restaurants, and the staff. The entertainment and show staff were excellent and friendly.
The water in the jacuzzi was cold.

The location is absolutely beautiful, and the ambience is pleasant and relaxing. Unfortunately, the food was very bland and could use significant improvement. I personally did not care for it at all. The drinks were also disappointing—very generic and lacking quality or creativity.
Most of the staff were attentive and kind, which I appreciated, though there were one or two individuals who came across as unfriendly. While the setting itself is lovely, the overall experience did not meet my expectations.
Because of this, I would not return. Thankfully, we had another reservation during this trip at a resort we have visited before and truly enjoy, which made the rest of our vacation much better. Viva Maya is okay, but it simply fell short in the areas that matter most to us—food and drinks. While the location and ambience are strong points, they were not enough to make up for the overall disappointment.

There was no ac ventilation in the buffet hall. Too hot inside, it was hard to enjoy our meal, and it grades down the food quality. Everything was warm. Even cold served foods are very warm, which creates some flies in most food serving areas

The outdoors was beautiful
The food was the worst I’ve ever had at a resort, the reviews continuously mention it you would think a large chain like Wyndham would of done something about it by now. But it truly is terrible. It makes the all inclusive package not worth it at all. Literally left the property to go eat or skipped meals all together.

Absolutely everything is amazing at this property! They go above and beyond to make sure every detail is taken care of. The food was amazing and changes up each night on the buffet. Location is perfect. The staff all welcomes you with smiles and seems to really love and enjoy being there.
That I had to leave.

Disappointing
I liked that 1 worker finally was kind and said hello on our last day.
Read first before booking... Then you decide. We thought it'd be a great place with all inclusive, especially since Wyndham tends to be above others... But this place... First was check-in. The attendant was kind but did NOT tell us that we needed to make reservations right then and there so we might even have a chance to get a better dinner. So when we did it early the next day, we could only get 1 and at an inconvenient time. The buffet was seriously lacking in flavor. B maybe we were spoiled in the other places we've stayed where the food at those places was amazing. The breakfast was the best and even that was lacking. The second day the eggs and omelets were being cooked so fast they were still raw tasting. The bread will suck the life out of you, it's so dry. The restaurant we did get to go to was lacking in it's flavor also although it was better than the buffet. The room was a typical motel 6 style room. No coffee maker and not much in appearance. The staff... Again, lacking. There was only 1 lady who greeted us as we walked by in the 5 days we stayed. Over all... Not worth the price and I'll go elsewhere from now on. The open bar was the best thing about it all... And who, for a family place, closes the pools at 8? No place for adults to relax other than the loud, drinking, party places to sit. We even got in trouble for being closer to each other on the beach and we were just talking.

The location is beautiful. We had wonderful rooms where we could walk right out and were almost on the beach and very near to the beach. The beach itself is beautiful and is definitely the top thing about the resort.
The food and drink could have been better. Also, it would have been better to know more about the food arrangements before arriving. The actual a la carte restaurants were very good (we ate at Hacienda Mexican and Miramare Italian). The problem was that when we checked in (for 7 days), we could only get bookings at these restaurants on the last two nights of our stay. It would have been good to have known this and logged into the app before we arrived to book more restaurants.
The Terraza wasn't bad, but it was very much cafeteria style. In the morning, this was great for breakfast, with lots of selection and a nice omelette station and eggs cooked to order. For dinner, the selection was quite varied, but the food just wasn't as nice. It was not poor quality, but just had been sitting there too long. A lot of it was probably fine when they put it out, but the quality declined substantially as it had been sitting there. They did have a very nice bbq and paella on the pool deck on the weekends for lunch - something like that everyday for lunch would have gone a long way to improving things.
Drinks were good and bartenders were great. Could up the quality of the alcolhol and drop some of the sugar and soft drink added to a lot of the drinks. Maybe an option could be having a higher end drinks package offered where you could pay a bit extra to get a better quality of spirit/wine/beer?

Poor
Beach and overall location was very nice
Booked a last minute family trip and pretty disappointed. Food very mediocre and a little Gross, rooms mediocre but clean, some Of the staff were fine and friendly, Some Of The front desk staff were not. Pool was too small and shallow, but the beach was nice. The worst part was the rooms we had face the large stage and they had shows every night until 10:30 or 11pm. The bass From shows vibrated and pulsated through the room it drove us NUTS. Like intense every night boom boom boom.
We asked to move 3 times but of course nope they were full because of new years. I would avoid this place there are tons of options in playacar. Just loud and tired resort ….and a little gross. WiFi sucked and worked on and off too. Relieved to not be there right now.
I’m sure there will Be some corporate response to this review like “we strive to Ensure our guests have a quality experience blah blah blah”, but trust me it’s probably worst option in that area. Avoid.

The facilities were great, near the beach. The staff is kind. The animation staff is good all day, the night shows are really good. The room were comfortable.
The food and drinks were basic and with limited options (very repetitive).

The beach is an excellent and well taken care and very clean. The buffet is actually better than some of the restarants. Coffee cafe is extremely good with excellent pastries and great service. This beach is hard to beat in Cancun only down side is no fish for snorkeling except very early and way out.
All was good and above here. Didn’t really not like anything.

Disappointing
Small coffee shop on site open most of the day with a little bit of air con inside and fans outside. Rooms were cleaned and sorted every day and the premises was always clean. Security is very strict which is a good thing
The food was average at best, the main buffet restaurant didn’t have any air conditioning so was always uncomfortable to eat. I booked the a la carte Italian and Mexican and both had very little selection and was like the food was of a buffet standard. I can’t fault the staff at all as they were always helpful, polite and always on hand

The resort is close to downtown, Pool was clean, beach was very clean, they offer Kayaking and boat surfing included. The Jet ski / wave runner and Parasailing company are next to the resort (paid activity). Pool bar and snack bar was amazing. Breakfast had lot of options. We faced Hurricane Berryl during one night and the response and preparation from the resort was outstanding. They made sure of guests safety and food delivered to the room.
The all inclusive meals had no "HALAL FOOD" option for Muslims. The chef and restaurant staff was not even aware of what Halal food means. I stayed for 3 nights and ate only same vegetarian options every day. Chef and staff should get more training to understand meal requirements and consider guests with different needs. At pool bar we asked for non-alcoholic drink and despite multiple reminders, they gave alcoholic drink to my kids. Although its All inclusive and the resort had 4 Ala cart restaurants, which you have to book in advance and they were all full for first 2 days of my stay. On enquiry, I was informed that I was only allowed to book any Ala cart restaurant 'only once" during my 3 nights stay. This was not mentioned properly on the website and other All inclusive resorts do not have this limitation. That's quite disappointing. I ended up with not visiting any Ala Cart restaurant.
