Scotland's largest city, Glasgow, is located on the River Clyde in the West Central Lowlands. Although long associated with industry, Glasgow is now a center for culture and tourism as well as being a gateway to the Highlands and islands of Scotland. You can tour the beautiful 19th century City Chambers building and visit the Gothic Glasgow Cathedral, on which construction began in the 13th century. Two major soccer rivals, Rangers and Celtic, call Glasgow home, and you can visit the Scottish Football Museum to learn more about them. Another popular tourist attraction is the Tall Ship: SV Glenlee, built in 1896. Scotland is famous for its whisky, and Glengoyne Distillery offers guided tours, tastings, classes and more. There are also many museums throughout the city including the Gallery of Modern Art, the Hunterian Museum and Art Gallery and more.

Getting to and from

Glasgow Airport is located about 8 miles west of the city center. Glasgow Express travels between the airport and city center in about 15 minutes. It runs every 10 minutes 24/7 except on Christmas Day. There are a number of local buses that run between the airport and other parts of the city as well.
