About

Tokyo is the sprawling capital city of Japan with a population of 13 million in just the metropolitan area. Despite its size, it is known as a particularly safe city. Its various neighborhoods offer an enormous variety from the eclectic nightlife of Shibuya and Shinjuku to the historical sites of Chiyoda and famous shopping areas including the Tsukiji Fish Market and the upscale Ginza shopping district. Summers are hot and humid in Tokyo while winters are mild with occasional snow. In March and April, visitors flock to the city to see the famous blooming of the cherry blossoms, particularly in the Ueno district.

Getting to and from Tokyo

Narita Airport is located nearly 40 miles from central Tokyo, but there are several options for getting into the city. Because of Tokyo's size, travel times vary and some options may be better than others depending on what part of the city you are going to. The Skyliner is an electric railway that offers a quick, comfortable trip. Another option is the Narita Express or N'EX, a limited-stop express train. There are also several express buses that run frequently and are not expensive as well as an Airport Limousine Bus.
