Scotland's capital for several hundred years, Edinburgh is a beautiful, compact city rich with history and located on the southern shore of the Firth of Forth. Most of the historic sites are along the Royal Mile in the Old Town and include Edinburgh Castle, which is 1,000 years old, and the 12th century St. Giles' Cathedral. Holyrood Park lies east of Old Town and includes Arthur's Seat, site of an ancient volcano with an extraordinary view of the city. Edinburgh Airport is located about ten miles west of Edinburgh.
Trams take about half an hour to run between the city center and the airport and leave every seven minutes. Trams also go to Edinburgh Gateway and Edinburgh Park Railway Station.
Airlink 100 is an express bus than runs every 10 minutes and takes 30 minutes to reach Waverley Bridge. Skylink 200 and 300 run every 30 minutes to various locations around Edinburgh and Night Bus N22 goes to the city center. Several other buses travel to various locations around Edinburgh and Scotland.
