Marbella is a popular resort town along the Costa del Sol in the southern part of Spain. Marbella's Old Town is a charming quarter of winding streets past whitewashed buildings still partly surrounded by the old city walls. Its layout has not changed since the 16th century. The square contains several impressive historic buildings including the 16th century town hall. There are many other striking buildings in the Old Town including the Ermita del Santo Cristo de la Vera Cruz, the Church of Santa María de la Encarnación and the remains of an Arabic castle. Adjacent to the Old Town is a garden containing 10 Salvador Dali sculptures. Marbella has 24 beaches along 17 miles of coastline. Many celebrities have homes in or visit Marbella throughout the year, particularly in the ritzy area known as the Golden Mile, and there are several film festivals there annually. The town has its own traditional seafood-based cuisine, but there are also many restaurants in the town serving international cuisine. Marbella is also famous for its nightlife.

Getting to and from Marbella

Malaga-Costa del Sol Airport is around 54 kilometers from Marbella. Avanzabus travels between the airport and the bus station in Marbella. Taxis are also available.
