With a recorded history spanning more than 3,000 years, Athens is one of the oldest cities in the world. Another important historic site is the Daphni Monastery, which is located about 7 miles northwest of the city center. It was originally built in the 6th century and restored in the 11th century. There are also a number of museums including the New Acropolis Museum and the National Archaeological Museum. Parnitha National Park and the National Garden of Athens are both popular outdoor spots. Athens International Airport is located about 12 miles east of Athens. Metro line 3 runs between the airport and central Athens. There is also a suburban rail that goes to Athens Central Railway Station. There are also four bus routes than run between the airport and various locations in and around Athens.
