Located along the South China Sea in the Pearl River Delta, Macau is both a city and a special administrative region in China. It was under Portuguese rule until 1999 and continues to operate autonomously from China. Macau is a popular resort city and is known in particular for its gambling casinos although there are also many other attractions. Its long association with Portugal makes for an interesting mix of culture and architecture. Its historic center is a World Heritage Site and has 25 historic locations. The food draws on influences from China, Portugal, India and Malaysia, and there are a number of good restaurants throughout Macau.

Getting to and from:

Macau International Airport is located on eastern Taipa Island. The Macau Light Rapid Transit runs one stop to the ferry terminal in one direction and goes to a number of different locations in the other direction. Public buses also run to the airport. You can book an airport limousine online in advance or on arrival at a counter in baggage claim or the public hall.
