About
A historic seaport on the Baltic Sea, Gdansk is an influential commercial and cultural center in northern Poland. The city’s heritage architecture, outstanding museums and expansive beaches draw numerous visitors each year. Gdansk boasts colossal, redbrick churches, grand thoroughfares and colorful cafes. Along with several universities, the city is home to highly regarded performing arts venues and popular cultural festivals. Gdansk has four distinct seasons that produce summer highs in 70s and average winter lows just below freezing.Getting to and from Gdansk
The country’s third-largest airport, Gdansk Lech Walesa Airport is located adjacent to the E28 motorway approximately 12 kilometers northwest of the city center. The Pomeranian Metropolitan Railway and several public bus routes connect the airport to the city. The train runs from an airport terminal platform to the main Gdynia Glówna railway station and downtown Gdansk where riders can transfer to the Fast Urban Railway Metro system. Purchase tickets from the conductor shortly after boarding the train. Surface buses depart from the terminal several times an hour. Obtain tickets from ZTM machines or Bilety shops and kiosks.
