The most populous and wealthiest city in India, Mumbai is the country’s cultural, commercial and entertainment capital. It is home to some of India’s leading scientific research institutions. The city skyline is a mix of modern skyscrapers and colonial-era architectural gems reflecting a variety of European influences. Along with the iconic Gateway to India, points of interest include renowned museums like the National Gallery of Modern Art, the Sanjay Gandhi National Park and the city’s famous street markets. Mumbai boasts a number of ornate churches, shrines and temples. The city’s tropical climate produces summer highs in the 90s and winter lows in the 60s.

Getting to and from Mumbai

The second busiest in the country, Chhatrapati Shivaji International Airport is located approximately 30 kilometers north of downtown. The award-winning airport has two main passenger terminals. While Terminal T1 is dedicated to domestic flights on low-cost carriers, Terminal T2 handles both domestic and international operations. Along with a taxi, passengers can reach the city by public bus or hotel shuttle. The bus stop is just outside the Level 6 departure hall. The bus can take you to the Andheri train station, which provides connections to other areas in western India.
