About

The capital of South Korea, Seoul is 2,000 years old and has five UNESCO world heritage sites along with vibrant contemporary nightlife, restaurants and shopping. From the 14th to the 19th century, the Joseon Dynasty built what are called the "Five Grand Palaces," with the two major ones being Gyeongbok-gung and Changdeok-gung. Itaewon is the international area for nightlife, but Sinchon, Hongdae and other areas are popular as well and have a more Korean feel. Namdaemun is an enormous and popular traditional street market. Seoul also has several mountains that offer hiking for every skill level and that are accessible using public transportation.

Getting to and from Seoul

Incheon International Airport is in the city of Incheon on Yeongjong Island. There are two AREX trains to Seoul. The express train to the city runs every half hour and takes around 45 minutes. The all-stop train runs much more frequently and takes about 53 minutes, connecting with several subway stops. Airport buses travel to hotels and major sites, and regular public buses are also available.
