About
Technically a part of the metropolitan Split area, Trogir is a village of around 13,000 people located on the Adriatic Coast. A part of the city lies on the island of Ciovo, accessible by bridge. Trogir is considered one of the best-preserved medieval towns in Europe, and its historic center is a UNESCO World Heritage Site. The city was founded by Greeks in the 3rd century BC and later taken over by the Romans. Its historic sites include its 17th century city gate and 15th century city walls, the 13th century Duke's Palace and the 15th century town loggia. There are a number of stunning beaches around the town and a seaside promenade. From the port, you can take a sailboat to the surrounding islands such as Drvenik Veli and Drvenik Mali where you will also find beautiful and often-secluded beaches. Trogir is an excellent base for exploring central Dalmatia and is also only about 30 minutes from the center of Split.Getting to and from Trogir
Trogir is around 5 km from the Split Airport. Bus #37 runs between Split and Trogir and stops at the airport. It runs every 20-30 minutes. Taxis are also available.
