About
The capital of China and the second most populous city in the world, Beijing is thousands of years old. Given its long history, it is full of important cultural and historical landmarks. Among its most famous sights are Tiananmen Square, the palace known as the Forbidden City and the religious complex known as the Temple of Heaven. You should also visit some of the city's hutongs, which are its traditional narrow alleys that date back to medieval times. One of the most visited portions of the Great Wall of China is located on the city's rural outskirts.Getting to and from Beijing
Beijing Capital International Airport, about 16 miles north of central Beijing, is the main airport for travelers to the city. The Airport Express train runs from terminals 2 and 3 to Sanyuanqiao Station and Dongzhimen Station, a 20-30 minute journey. If you arrive at terminal 1, you can get a shuttle to 2 or 3. An airport shuttle bus leaves every 10-30 minutes and has several different lines that go to various locations throughout Beijing.
