Surrounded by picturesque lawns and gardens, The Old Swan was once the famous retreat of Agatha Christie. It offers modern rooms with private bathrooms and on-site car parking. Originally an 18th-century coaching inn, it now features rooms with tea and coffee-making facilities, a TV and trouser press. Some also have a stand-alone bath and views over the garden. The traditional Swan Lounge and Bar offers a selection of beverages and afternoon teas, while the Wedgewood and Library restaurants serve fresh, locally sourced dishes. The Old Swan was home to Agatha Christie during her disappearance in 1926, and has since been used as a film set for the 1979 film, Agatha. Just a short walk from Harrogate town center, the building is 5 minutes’ walk from the famous Betty’s Tearoom and 15 minutes from Harrogate Railway Station.

Welcoming staff, clean rooms, nice restaurant and bar area and handy for the town centre
The buffet breakfast on Sunday could have been warmer, I ate fairly early and it wasn’t piping hot the room was pleasant no view but I could live with that but very warm and no opening windows

The man on reception helped us with our parking query
The room was boiling hot , the windows were wide open but it was still hot so we could not sleep very well , we tried turning the heater down and hoped it would get cooler. We did not ask to swap rooms as we had been told they were fully booked. We have stayed before and it was great so this was disappointing

An old fashioned but comfortable hotel in an ideal location. Clean rooms and excellent staff.
Nothing really as long as you realise that the Old Swan is of a certain age.

Very Good
Room. Breakfast in the magnificent dining room. Sitting in the bar in the evening. The Agatha Christie connection, which I didn't know about before my visit and that the traditional feel of the hotel had been maintained.
I would have liked a telephone spray shower head as well as the overhead option. Also the bath was very slow to drain. I would have preferred soap in the bathroom rather than liquid soap and body wash.
