Surrounded by picturesque lawns and gardens, The Old Swan was once the famous retreat of Agatha Christie. It offers modern rooms with private bathrooms and on-site car parking. Originally an 18th-century coaching inn, it now features rooms with tea and coffee-making facilities, a TV and trouser press. Some also have a stand-alone bath and views over the garden. The traditional Swan Lounge and Bar offers a selection of beverages and afternoon teas, while the Wedgewood and Library restaurants serve fresh, locally sourced dishes. The Old Swan was home to Agatha Christie during her disappearance in 1926, and has since been used as a film set for the 1979 film, Agatha. Just a short walk from Harrogate town center, the building is 5 minutes’ walk from the famous Betty’s Tearoom and 15 minutes from Harrogate Railway Station.

Extremely clean hotel, to a very high standard. Staff are super helpful and professional and very friendly
Cold buffet breakfast was good and well presented. The hot buffet needs more care. Restaurant staff were really attentive and friendly.

The breakfast was very nice. The location is perfect for walking into town. When I visit Harrogate I always stay here. The evening Meal was also very nice.
I don’t agree with service charges when you have paid upfront for dbd. So didn’t pay this. Also it didn’t clarify what was included for meal e.g 3 course or two course which we queried with waitress who confirmed 3 course but the. Reception advised it was 2 in the morning on checking out. But they waived the fee

good location, easy access to the town and bars restaurants shops etc
Room was located above a scruffy lean to shed /outdoor area, where the dustbins were located. Things being thrown out there making it quite noisy. There was also some kind of compressor motor going off all the time. The room backed onto a corridor and when the corridor door was pushed open it banged onto the wall behind the headboard of the bed and your head Waiting at the bar to get served when there was no one else there, and the bar staff stood there chatting without acknowlledging you.

Old world charm matched with modern touches, especially the lounge bar. Location was perfect for exploring Harrogate near enough to the centre but far enough away to not be bothered by noise.
Bathroom was very nicely appointed. Bedroom was a little dated but for the price was more than acceptable.

Our room was fabulous - large bed, beautifully decorated and spacious. We also had a huge separate lounge room. The bathroom was also large and well equipped.
The only issue was that we did not have a kettle and tea tray in the room.
