Swan Road, Harrogate, North Yorkshire - England, HG1 2SR, United Kingdom
Surrounded by picturesque lawns and gardens, The Old Swan was once the famous retreat of Agatha Christie. It offers modern rooms with private bathrooms and on-site car parking. Originally an 18th-century coaching inn, it now features rooms with tea and coffee-making facilities, a TV and trouser press. Some also have a stand-alone bath and views over the garden. The traditional Swan Lounge and Bar offers a selection of beverages and afternoon teas, while the Wedgewood and Library restaurants serve fresh, locally sourced dishes. The Old Swan was home to Agatha Christie during her disappearance in 1926, and has since been used as a film set for the 1979 film, Agatha. Just a short walk from Harrogate town center, the building is 5 minutes’ walk from the famous Betty’s Tearoom and 15 minutes from Harrogate Railway Station.

Very Good
I don't really eat breakfast so only had cereal or toast.
Would have liked a room with a view instead of the back of a building , but for what I payed I didn't really expect a view.

Wonderful
The reception area, bar, garden and dining room are all very nice indeed. It has a grand feeling without being too haughty. All staff were helpful and nice Bathroom was nicely finished. Very good value. Street Parking available. Location ideal... 2 minutes from town (yet still noise free)

Lovely property with beautiful grounds. We stayed in probably the most basic room which unfortunately didnt have much character so if you want this then pay for a better one. The breakfast room is beautiful with a really good selection and was very enjoyable.
The room we stayed in wasnt very nicely decorated and had very cheap looking modern furniture in it. So if you want more character then perhaps pay for a better room

Wonderful
Staff, including Housekeeping, were all excellent. Breakfast good.
Plumbing needs sorting, along with floor boards and creaky beds as I was awoken several times in the night/very early morning by, I assume, the room above using the toilet/shower and moving about.

Disappointing
The staff were nice and cleanliness was good
My stay was disappointing, unfortunately. I have written to the hotel twice and left feedback on the day, as I have not heard back I leave the following feedback: - The room had no sound proofing. - Every time someone opened the hallway door, my room door rattled loudly. - The door cracks were all so wide that the hallway light beamed into my room all night. - The bathroom door is unhinged and had to be lifted to close. - The bath is blocked and the morning shower was disgusting as it kept rising over the feet and up to the shins - The room smelt of smoke despite having no smoking signs around

Pleasant
Great location, love that you can buy bags ect... in the ground floor area and the display linked to Agatha Christie.
our room / bed was too small for a couple, however I feel it was a mix up as my Mum also had a room with no accessible shower and a bigger bed . it was too late for us to swap as already unpacked and had a meeting to go to. Disappointed with the breakfast as was expecting cloths and fish choice with service as we had last year, also we were questioned each day about not paying for breakfast, which we had paid for at the same time as both rooms and parking.

Exceptional
Spacious room, clean and comfortable. En suite bathroom with shower over bath. Plenty of choice at breakfast which was served in an elegant restaurant with glass roof. Pleasant comfortable lounge bar for evening socialising.Location ideal for Montpellier quarter. A beautiful elegant hotel with friendly professional staff
I can't make any criticism of the Old Swan. The bar prices were high: £30 for 2 large gin and tonics, but that is probably to be expected in a hotel of this calibre.

Great location, very clean and spacious rooms, great dining room to have breakfast in.
Our room was way too hot and the temperature outside wasn’t particularly warm. I dread to think how hot it must get when it’s hot outside. We could feel a warm big pipe under the carpet. Fan provided in the room but still way too hot to be comfortable in.
