Location was great. Breakfast was lovely. Attentive staff
We were on top of building. My legs found the climb hard & it was a seperate bathroom with a step up that i struggled with. A grab rail would be useful

Lovely hotel. Loved the decor and feel of the hotel. Had its only personal touch and style. Rooms a desent size, clean and tiny. Mini bar in the hotel room which is handy for qhen you need a drink after a long day exploring. Great price to which included a great breakfast. We will defiantly stay again.
Nothing really. Hotel was great

Exceptional
Lovely hotel. A very friendly welcome and a great team. Comfortable rooms and a delicious breakfast with plenty of choice. Parking on site. Knaresborough is lovely, plenty of restaurants and bars. Walkable into the centre. Nice touch having a good mini bar. Comfy bed.
Rooms can be noisy at the front. Very minor point.

Good
How close it was to the town. The food was great, the staff were lovely.
The shower could have been bigger because there was plenty of room spare in the bathroom and the mattress wasn’t very comfortable.

Poor
The breakfast was acceptable and the location was good.
This should not be classed as a Hotel and I certainly would not have awarded it a 4-star status. It is more of a B&B. It does not offer the facilities of a Hotel. Whilst I appreciate the building itself is very old and therefore adjustments are limited, there are numerous things that could be done to improve the guest experience. The poorly maintained 'Hotel' entrance is at the rear of the building and closed between 12.00 and 4.00pm. There is no 24/7 on- site reception or staff - you are told there is a number you can ring if you need help/assistance. The hotel does not offer lunch or evening meals and does not offer any other facilities you would associate with a Hotel. The car park is two doors down at the rear of what appears to be a disused building. We stayed in a Superior Double which was situated at the front of the building, on the busy main high street next to traffic lights. There was constant traffic 24 hour traffic noise. Although beneficial at night to block out the traffic noise, the windows did not open at all, which would have been useful to allow fresh air into the room during the day. A fan was provided. The room was large, but the bathroom very small and did not have storage space for toiletries. The plug in the basin sink didn't work. The shower was small and did not have a grab handle for safety, or a tray to put your personal soap/gels. There were strict breakfast times with breakfast being served until 10.00am. If a cooked breakfast was required you were told that you needed to be in the dining room for 9.15am. After that a continental breakfast was available. The cooked breakfast options were good and varied. The continental breakfast consisted of the usual juices, fruits and cereals. I didn't see any pastries on display or a toaster should you wish to make your own toast but I imagine these may have been available on request. The dining room, tableware etc.

Staff were fantastic.
Pricey but think that’s true of most of Knaresborough.

Very Poor
Nice big room, reasonable breakfast area
They charged £25 for getting there after 2230, (2250) which is an outrageous amount to charge. It would actually have been cheaper to stay at a nicer spa hotel up the road.
