Fair
The restaurant and the view
It smells very much like cigarette. Decoration in general is old. The rooms still have carpets and they’re dirty and smelly.

We loved the location and the view from the terrace. The staff were very helpful too.
The rooms and the bathroom needs an update.

Good
It’s new nice hotel at a central location, 2 min walk to Senso-ji temple & Nakamise and Sumida river. You have Asakusa metro station in 1 min walk.
If you would like to be close to Shibuya & restaurant & bars area, this place is a bit far.

The Gate Hotel was impeccable in every aspect. Check in and staff - whether the front desk, the restaurant staff or servers - all are polite and welcoming and helpful.
The room is well appointed for relaxing. Bed is very comfortable and the shower is lovely as are the toiletries provided.
Location is convenient with a wonderful view of Skytree.

The location near the Asakusa subway station and the Senso-Ji temple was great. So many restaurant and food stall options near by and easy access to multiple subway lines.
The hallways were dark and dated. The room was fine but could also use a refresh

Very Good
The location is convenient for using the public transport and going around in asakusa. The room size was very good with Tokyo standard. The bed was comfortable and different sizes of pillows available which is important. We were there in may which is not so cold so the thin duvet is very convenient and you don't wake up all sweaty and warm .Coffee machine in the room is very convenient. Good size bathroom and shower. Restaurant and bar available on top floor could be useful and convenient . Air conditioning and humidifier/air purifier.
The room and corridors feel very old and you see stains on the wallpaper on different parts of the wall. If you run the AC at night, there is this distinct noise/vibration that doesn't let you sleep well, so we needed to turn it off and we still heard the other rooms. Very inconvenient that you can't open a small window for airing out. The bathroom shower slightly old and shower curtain a bit annoying. The water pressure for shower was not good so you need to use the hand shower

Nice clean hotel. Excellent location. Wonderful staff. Spacious and comfortable room. Good breakfast selections. Rooftop view of city and Skytower the best.
Diner menu in the restaurant needs review and more offerings. Scallops dinner entree was more like an appetizer. Only three scallops served. Meat quality needs inspection before leaving kitchen. There is great dining potential here, but kitchen needs better supervision.

Very Good
The location is outstanding - steps aware from the main metro line, the view of the Tokyo Tower and the Senso-ji Temple. Tons of food options and grocery stores in the area. The Asakusa neighborhood has everything you'd need and is a great home base area. Staff is very accommodating and the rooms are very comfortable and large for Japan standards.

The Gate Hotel was in a fairly quiet yet convenient part of Tokyo. There were many restaurant options in the area, as well as sights to see. The view from the lobby and top floor was wonderful. The room was very clean, with had a comfortable bed.
We found the hotel restaurant on the top floor to be just okay, though the service was good.

Pleasant
The room and its amenities were nice. Room was clean and quiet, bedding was very comfortable.
Breakfast was not included and the price for the buffet was high and it was just so-so. The cost of the hotel was overpriced compared with the other hotels and ryokans I stayed in Tokyo. The staff was no warm and welcoming.

Good
Good location, nice restaurant and good staff.
Location was good and as presented.
Walls were scuffed, drawers were falling off and main shower head was in need of replacement / cleaning. Ended up using the secondary shower head instead

Very Good
I liked that the staff was really kind and helpful, I liked the location, and the hotel was really clean. I also loved the bathroom, the tub and the shower were great!
It was a little out dated. For the price, I would expect it to have a little more up to date style. The hotel also really caters to western style.
