Good shared room, but I ended up changing to a private room to get more space (the staff was super helpful and nice about it!), and it ended up being a gigantic room, perfect for my needs (last days in Japan, had to re-pack and organize my stuff!). Food was pretty good, and the common spaces were pretty lively.
No complaints.

I loved the quiet neighborhood and the excellent breakfast selections.
Next time I’ll get a room with an en suite restroom.

The bathroom is well-equipped with enough space to put our clothes and stuff. The water pressure is great which allows us to have a comfortable shower after a long day.
The public area is quite beautifully renovated and the kitchen is well-equipped too.
The staff with good English gave very clear information about the hotel.
They allow us to drop our luggage there earlier with the front desk keeping an eye for us.
The ventilation at the room is bad. Although there is an air purifier but the whole night with all four people in a room the room odor turned very bad.
The corridor at the level 1 (ground floor) where the dorms located has the ‘odor of human’. :(

Hotel Graphy Nezu was lovely and lowkey. It was just the right spot and just the right location for our final nights in Tokyo. The staff was wonderful, the room was comfortable, and we had a nice dinner at the cafe.

Wonderful
The staff were exceptional throughout. The shared amenities were also clean, thoughtful, and accommodating. The 'free beer hour' is such a great way to encourage conversation, and the rooftop patio was lovely with comfortable seating and fabulous views. I booked the Deluxe Theatre Room, which was massive, comfortable, and honestly hard to leave. Two comfortable mattresses, huge theater, functional and clean bathroom, sitting area...if you're crying out for some space on your Japan trip and want to have some movie time, check it out. Maybe a touch pricey comparable to some local hotels, but you get the great room with the social feeling of a hostel. I made several connections, and all the reviews were positive.
Nothing really. As I said, it can get expensive on weekends relatively speaking, but that depends on season and time of the week. The area is quiet, but easily walkable to some great bars, the Ueno zoo and park, and the local station. As a side note, I pulled an all-time idiot move and left my bag at a neighbouring bar overnight. My laptop, money, my PASSPORT. Ah, sake. The next day, in a panic, I start back for it...only to have the owner whiz by on bicycle, gasp, and pedal off to hand deliver me my bag. She is an angel. If you stay there, check out the Cafe & Bar Detour 7006. Small, unassuming, but the owner is absolutely lovely and friendly and will cook up a storm, keep the booze flowing, and set up karaoke if requested.

Japan’s decoupling in a good and sometimes inflexible way, more expensive during weekend than good hotel, book a week or two ahead,

Great price. Location. Calm and quiet area. Price for the room and space is great. Loved the easy access to cafe for food or drinks. Didn't use it but the full kitchen and all the cooking tools they have is amazing. Very impressive. This is a great hotel for a long term traveler or someone on a budget but wants some amenities and privacy.
Location is great but in the extreme heat it can be a struggle to walk to Ueno station for certain trips. However there are bus stops near by or an easy walk to Nezu station.

Wonderful
Great common spaces, with a cafe, tatami room, and good-sized lounge and kitchen. Our family of four (2 college-age kids and 2 of us parents) had a double bunk room- a tighter squeeze but worked for us.
Could use an another restroom… Laundry machines took very long to dry clothes.

Near one main station - Ueno and very clise to the metro subway - Nezu
The bed size. Hope it’s bigger for two people

I enjoyed the lounge and kitchen area.
I found the mobile check in redundant. After going through the mobile check in I was still required to check-in in person. It felt like one or the other was a waste of time.

It was clean, the staff was nice and friendly. For the price and level the hotel was perfect. But to me a 10 would be a 5 star hotel. Would definitely stay here again though.

Dorm was spacious, locker was sufficiently sized too. Towels provided everyday as well as pyjamas and toiletries - what luxury! Bathroom is probably my favourite, every cubicle comes with a dry area so you could dry off and dress up before leaving the cubicle and floor mats are provided in abundance to be used in the dry area. The bathroom is always dry and zero bad smells. There is a 40min Skyliner train straight from Narita to Keisei Ueno Station and the property is 10mins walk from the station in a residential quarter. Functional kitchen and pantry area, there’s even a pigeonhole for every bed for you to store pantry items on top of two fridges.
I didn’t like that booking app in Japan requires me to sign a consent for my personal details to be released to Japan hotels but yet when I check in, I still have to put in my credit card details which all feels very effort consuming for something potentially dodgy or unbeneficial to the consumer.
