Exceptionally friendly staff, and the accommodations are great for what you’re paying. The staff are also very good with English, so checking in and out is generally hassle free (but it’s always fun to try some Japanese yourself!) The dormitories are pretty simple bunk beds with appreciated amenities like light blocking curtains for sleep and privacy, usb outlets, and a personal bed light. You also get a locker to store things in. If you add a meal with your stay, you can choose from a variety of genuinely delicious and well made breakfast items. I got the French toast and it was both beautiful and delicious. Was definitely good with genuine heart and soul. The showers and bathrooms are kept very clean and you’re provided things like toothbrush and toothpaste. The very large lounge also has an entire kitchen in case you felt compelled to do some homemade cooking even with all the amazing food around the area. Nezu is a relatively quiet little burb of Tokyo that’s seated minutes walk away from Ueno, specifically Ueno Koen. It’s an incredible park with so many things to see, and you can also see some more historic stuff with Yushima just below Nezu. Nezu shrine is highly recommended for some very interesting Tori gate pathways, as is Yushima Shrine to the south.
I think the one challenge, albeit a small one, is that it may be a lengthier walk from the train station that you’d prefer, if you’re coming back after a long day of walking and just want to step off the train right into your hotel room. But it’s a minor issue and you still get a nice view of Nezu while you make your way there.

The community toilets and showers were okay in principle but they were pretty far away from my room and there weren't enough of them in my opinion. The walls of my actual room were not very soundproof either. I could hear the next room very easily.

The cafe has a great breakfast and dinner, especially for vegetarian options. Everything else in the hostel was good too. The location is perfect, in an incredibly quiet neighborhood but close to metro and Ueno station/park.

I loved the art and common areas. It had great amenities to use. I got a brush and mouth wash.
Bunk beds are just noises and it’s not a mattress it’s more like a thick comforter which is not thick enough to side sleep.

By far one of the best hostel I stayed at. They have guests comfort in mind with their animeties: lockers big enough to store in your carry-on, curtains on the bed for privacy, slippers, sleeping mask, earplugs and toothbrush already waiting in the locker and an animeties cart in the lobby if needed. I like the bathroom has folding rack and a hook in the shower so you don't have to put your belongings on the floor and clean floor mat at the bathroom entrance so you don't have to use the same floor mat as the other guests. The facility is clean in a quiet neighborhood and the staffs is friendly.
It would have been nice if the subway station was a little closer, but 15 mins walk is not that bad.

Great staff, perfect location and the free happy hour each evening was a nice way to connect with fellow travelers. Ueno park was a short walk away and a lovely place to enjoy sunrise in the morning.
When I come back to Tokyo, I’ll definitely stay at this location again.

The laundry facilities and happy hour at the bar were great and helpful and we enjoyed the projector in our room for an evening movie.
Hallway noise during it stay woke me up a little. People were generally respectful but nose carried pretty well in the building.

Location, kitchen facilities
Dorm beds are cramped, bathrooms sometimes had pee stains on the walls, the social life was not very good. Anyone from families with small children to local businesses men to backpackers would stay here. It did not make for a social space.

The hotel was at an excellent location for our Sakura experience in Ueno park. Reasonably close to subway stations (10 min walk). Room and breakfast was nice, and the free drink sampling in the early evening was a surprising add-on. The staff were very pleasant and helpful.

My husband and I LOVED everything about this property! The location was located close to the train station and Ueno Park. The room was cozy, a decent size, clean, had a fridge, A/C, the toilet has a bidet (we got a room with a private bathroom), the tub is a good size and it has a shower attachment that you can hang up high or low, there are other things included with the room, they have a little cafe in the lobby, a laundry room on the 4th floor, and etc.
The dryer did take a long time to dry clothes
