Wonderful
The garden is so
Magical.
I was expecting to be wowed by the traditional Japanese breakfast but I was disappointed considering the steep price paid.

Gorgeous hotel and property. This is the most luxurious one we are staying in. Loved the garden/skyline view from our room. The room was spacious and everything in it was thought through to the tiniest details. The service was phenomenal, staff speak English and are welcoming. The gardens with the special winter mist are breathtaking. Definitely enjoyed the breakfast with the view from the room. Chinzanso provided a memorable, once-in-a lifetime type experience.
I liked it all. Chinzanso Hotel is a bit out of the way so a taxi/uber there becomes necessary. I would recommend booking everything (restaurants and excursions) in advance, especially if traveling during busy season when things sell out.

We love this hotel. The staff is friendly, the gardens are amazing (especially the mist shows), and the ambiance is superb.
The only drawbacks are that the food and accommodations are on the high side. Obviously, not high enough to keep us from coming back though since this was our third visit. We’re just don’t eat in the hotel very often despite the excellent food.

Very Good
The hotel is very elegant and the room was large and well appointed. The garden is lovely.
Although elegant (like the Plaza and Waldorf Astoria were in NYC), it bordered on feeling staid. It would have been nicer if there had been more variety on the breakfast menu that came with our room. We stayed at other hotels in Japan that felt warmer and had more personalized service.

My rate is six star hotel for sure. The place, the food, the service, the view, and especially the garden were wonderful. The hotel offers many food outlets with great food and very convenient for us to just stay in. The collection of the decor items were impressive.
We love its quiet neighborhood but if you want a hotel surrounded by shops and restaurants, this might not be the choice.

The property was gorgeous, especially with all the Christmas decorations, we had a garden view room, which was just amazing as well. Their garden is gorgeous all lit up at night

Very Good
The rooms were large, comfortable, and nice appointed. The grounds were beautiful and the breakfast was quite good.
Location was a 20 minute walk to the nearest subway/train station and distances to major attractions were on average a 30 minute transit ride. Use of some facilities such as the pool required additional payment.

I got the room , it was corner and top of the hotel room, so beautiful city view and big windows. I love this room, I hope I will come back soon.
Nothing didn’t like.

Super luxurious hotel with a lot of old world charm. Beautiful gardens and view from the room
Location. Far from the centre of the city and a long walk to the nearest station

Have you previously stayed at a hotel with a 400 year old pagoda (albeit moved from Kyoto) and mist/light shows located on its own private expansive garden? The hotel is spacious (as are the rooms all of which face the garden), formal, opulent with a West meets East flavor. Beautiful old twisted pines in the upper garden terrace. Camelias are the central theme of the garden (Spring bloom).
A little out of the way from the airports. The mist cloud is a bit contrived but certainly a unique effect. It does have a certain formality: we felt under-dressed getting off a bus from Kawaguchi and taking a taxi to the airport to and from there.

Everything about this Hotel simply amazing. It’s comfortable, it’s beautiful and the element of true history behind those walls. The staff is super helpful and friendly, there are various different restaurants inside the hotel to enjoy as well. It has an amazing garden full of historical artifacts

The room was large, and the layout was tasteful. The bed was quite comfortable. The shower hot water came on in only a few seconds, which was great. Turndown service was a nice touch. The gardens were magnificent, and the sea of clouds was a unique experience. The service was impeccable.
Nothing.

Beautiful historical garden; this hotel is famous for a reason. An amazing array of restaurants (although expensive). Impressive artwork in the public spaces.
It’s not cheap. I didn’t expect it to be; any hotel at this level of elegance is going to be pricey. I wouldn’t say that it’s a fortune, but it’s hardly an economic choice. And the location is not that convenient; reasonable central, but you have to take a taxi, or walk to the subway stations — which aren’t on the most desirable subway lines.
