Very Good
The hotel is old but the room is clean. spacious and well maintained. The lobby is traditional and grand, the JPN garden is pretty and relaxing.
Hotel is located on a hill so walking to Shinagawa station and restaurants/shops was inconvinient. Not recommended if traveling with elderly or small children and plan to use public transportation, taxi/uber would be an easier and safer option. Shinagawa station and its surrounding area is undergoing lots of construction so its a bit chaotic.

Here’s an exciting Booking.com review you can post:
Grand Prince Hotel Takanawa exceeded all our expectations and was one of the highlights of our Tokyo trip. The hotel’s beautiful Japanese garden is absolutely stunning—a peaceful oasis in the middle of the city, especially lovely for an early morning or evening stroll. It gave the whole stay a calm, luxurious atmosphere that’s hard to find in Tokyo.
The room was impressively large, especially by Tokyo standards, with plenty of space to relax and unwind. Compared to similarly priced hotels in downtown Tokyo, this felt like exceptional value—you get much more room, beautiful surroundings, and a true premium hotel experience without the premium central Tokyo price tag.
The location is also excellent. It’s just a short walk to Shinagawa Station, making it incredibly convenient for getting around Tokyo and for easy access to the Shinkansen if you’re traveling beyond the city. You get great connectivity while staying in a quieter, more elegant neighborhood.
Breakfast was another standout—excellent quality, lots of variety, and a perfect way to start each day. Overall, Grand Prince Hotel Takanawa offers the perfect combination of comfort, convenience, and serenity. Highly recommended for anyone visiting Tokyo who wants more space, beautiful surroundings, and fantastic value.

It was a beautifully designed space. The grounds are a welcome respite from the big city environment of Tokyo.
There is a construction project nearby that affects the area.

Great hotel at a great value! Rooms have been updated and are often listed for $150/night or less which is a great deal for Toyko/Japan considering this is a top level hotel. Beautiful lobby, restaurants, and a very, very lovely garden. Restaurants are good. For a $15-$20 fee you can also enjoy the spa with whirpool, steam, sauna at neighboring, more expensive Sakura Tower which is part of the 3 hotel complex. Highly recommend this hotel for a Tokyo stay. It's a quiet neighborhood yet only a 10 minute walk to Shinagawa train station.

Wonderful
Loved our stay and the Grand Prince. The location was perfect for going around the city but quiet and relaxing. We loved the garden as the cherry blossoms were in full effect, and having a 7/11 and great breakfast onsite was a major plus. View of Tokyo tower made the nighttime view extra special.
No complaints!

We liked the staff. They seem to go out of their way to make your stay an enjoyable one. They were very courteous and kind in making our stay a memorable experience.
The nearness to Shinagawa Station was a plus. We took a shuttle to the Prince Hotel to walk to the station.
NA since we loved this place.

We loved our stay! it was short but great. The staff was lovely and breakfast was delicious. And the gardens were stunning. Highly recommend.
When we arrived the room was quite warm - no ac, but that was quickly remedied. They brought up a portable AC unit and it worked great. I think the heat for the whole building was still on for the season but they did what they could to make us comfortable. all good.

Wonderful
Part of the huge Seibu Hotels complex at Shinagawa, the Grand Prince Takanawa offered us outstanding value for a quality property. We were in a deluxe twin room with a view of the garden, and it more than met our needs with its western decor and furnishings. The room was spacious, the bathroom of good size, comfortable chairs for two, along with a separate desk chair. We liked the plentiful outlets for charging multiple devices, and the 7-11 in the hotel was very convenient. The impeccably groomed Japanese Garden among the Prince Hotels offered a quiet respite from the busy surroundings in the Shinagawa Station area, which has convenient direct access to Haneda Airport via the Keikyu Line.
As part of a large hotel complex area, plan to walk at least 8-10 minutes for restaurants in the Takanawadai Station (Toei Line) area, or 10 -12 minutes to get to Shinagawa Station area shops and restaurants.
