Wonderful
Great location near the subway station (Shinagawa). Beautiful view from high levels overlooking Tokyo. The staff were very accommodating to our needs. They moved us from a low floor room to a high floor room (At no extra charge!).

Location was ok. 10 mins walk from Shinagawa station.
I knew it is old hotel but it was VERY old. Bathroom is just awful. I can't believe this is 4 star hotel. You expect better reception. We also ate in their buffet restaurant since we were so tired in the first day arrived in japan. It was so expensive and THE worst thing we ate in japan.

The rooms were larger than others in Japan and staying 5 nights we needed extra space. We also loved the balcony and especially the gardens.
It’s an older building and our floor smelled musty. Our room smelled like smoke, though it’s a non-smoking room. The carpet was badly stained and the walls were scratched and dirty. It just needed some TLC.

We had a truly wonderful stay at Grand Prince Hotel Shin Takanawa and would happily return on our next visit to Tokyo. From the moment we arrived, the staff made us feel welcome with their warm hospitality and professionalism. Check-in was smooth and efficient, and every interaction throughout our stay reflected a high level of care and attention to detail. The room was spacious, clean, and very comfortable, with a great balance of modern amenities and a relaxing atmosphere. We especially appreciated the peaceful surroundings—the hotel’s beautiful garden added a serene touch that made it easy to unwind after a busy day exploring the city. The location is also a big plus, being conveniently close to Shinagawa Station, which made getting around Tokyo incredibly easy. Overall, we really loved our stay. The combination of excellent service, comfortable accommodations, and a tranquil setting made it a memorable experience. Highly recommended!

The common spaces were very nice and unkept
The hotels HVAC needs to be updated. The entire building is either in heating or cooling, there is no individual control in rooms. So it was 78 degrees in the room while being in the 70s outside because cooling hadn’t been turned on

Lobby area and garden areas. Breakfast was ok.
Everything was fine until you got to the room. Room, beds were terrible. Beds were basically cots and very uncomfortable.This hotel should never be a five star hotel.

The room was large and very comfortable, and quiet. The hotel was located near a major train station. The service was very good.
Not all of the front desk staff spoke English, which made communicating challenging at times.
