Great location. Peaceful getaway from the very crowded parts of Tokyo with beautiful lobby and garden, yet close to a major metro station. The rooms as many reviewers mention definitely need updating— which is exactly what they’ve done at the next door, older Grand Prince Takanawa which is now the real “shin” (newer) of the two and the better value! I’m sure it’s on their horizon to update the room at the Shin, otherwise you might as well choose the updated, and seemingly less expensive, non-Shin Takanawa. If you want true luxury you’ll want to pay more for the newest Sakura Tower with extra nice gym and spa facility. All are part of the same complex so you have accesss to all the restaurants and the beaufitul garden which is lit up beautifully at night! Shout out to to Sakura Italian restaurant in the Tower which has later hours, and good food and service at a moderate price.

Great location near the subway station (Shinagawa). Beautiful view from high levels overlooking Tokyo. The staff were very accommodating to our needs. They moved us from a low floor room to a high floor room (At no extra charge!).

I knew it is old hotel but it was VERY old. Bathroom is just awful. I can't believe this is 4 star hotel. You expect better reception. We also ate in their buffet restaurant since we were so tired in the first day arrived in japan. It was so expensive and THE worst thing we ate in japan.

The rooms were larger than others in Japan and staying 5 nights we needed extra space. We also loved the balcony and especially the gardens.
It’s an older building and our floor smelled musty. Our room smelled like smoke, though it’s a non-smoking room. The carpet was badly stained and the walls were scratched and dirty. It just needed some TLC.

We had a truly wonderful stay at Grand Prince Hotel Shin Takanawa and would happily return on our next visit to Tokyo. From the moment we arrived, the staff made us feel welcome with their warm hospitality and professionalism. Check-in was smooth and efficient, and every interaction throughout our stay reflected a high level of care and attention to detail. The room was spacious, clean, and very comfortable, with a great balance of modern amenities and a relaxing atmosphere. We especially appreciated the peaceful surroundings—the hotel’s beautiful garden added a serene touch that made it easy to unwind after a busy day exploring the city. The location is also a big plus, being conveniently close to Shinagawa Station, which made getting around Tokyo incredibly easy. Overall, we really loved our stay. The combination of excellent service, comfortable accommodations, and a tranquil setting made it a memorable experience. Highly recommended!
