The Schlosshotel Römischer Kaiser is one of Vienna's most traditional hotels, offering an ideal city center location in a quiet side street of Kärntner Straße. Built in 1684 and family-owned since 1904, this small baroque palace is only a few minutes’ walk from the State Opera, the Hofburg Imperial Palace and St. Stephen’s Cathedral. All rooms at the Schlosshotel Römischer Kaiser are fitted with a flat-screen TV with cable channels, a laptop-sized safe and a mini-bar. Coffee is also available in the lobby, 24 hours a day. Pleasant staff, quiet with most sites within easy walking distance and a couple of decent restaurants just 50 metres away. Breakfast was good. The only grumble would be the cost of the airport taxi return journey. We had a surly driver who charged 51 euros against the 43 we arranged for the journey from the airport. I would strongly recommend using the CAT train. Nonetheless we enjoyed the hotel.

The staff were all lovely and very helpful. We received a free room upgrade on arrival and the room was quiet, charming and comfortable. Breakfast was excellent. A perfect location for exploring the city

Excellent location could walk to most sightseeing places and good restaurants. The hotel is on a pedestrianised road and was very quiet despite being only a couple of minutes from the Main Street. Excellent buffet breakfast.

The hotel decor is very much in the traditional style. All areas were very tidy, and well maintained. Location-wise, you are only a 5-10 minute walk from Karlsplatz, which is a major terminus for Tram, Underground and bus services.
On our last morning, due to our departure time, we decided to have breakfast prior to check-out. Although there was a good selection, we did feel that it was overpriced.

We just spend 3 nights here. It was a nice hotel, totally in the center, very nice barroco style. Coffee and tea in the room and a pretty bathroom. Bedsheets and pillows were so comfy.
The carpet was dusty and worn out. Should be changed.
