The capital of Italy, Rome has a long and spectacular history from its days as the seat of the Roman Empire through the Italian Renaissance and to the present day as one of the world's most famous and popular tourist destinations. Old Rome was the city center during the Renaissance but includes the Pantheon, built more than 1800 years ago, and many historical squares and buildings. Remnants of ancient Rome can be found in the Colosseo district including the Forum, the Colosseum, the Arch of Constantine and more. The city is also renowned for its art, fashion and cuisine.

Getting to and from Rome

Leonardo da Vinci–Fiumicino Airport, the main airport, is located west of the center of Rome. The Leonardo Express runs every 15 minutes and takes 30 minutes to go nonstop to Termini Station. Local trains are also available as well as several buses. Some international flights arrive at Rome Ciampino Airport, about 7.5 miles from the center of Rome. Several buses take about 40 minutes to run to Termini Station, the metro and other local stations.
