This city in northwest England is one of the most visited in the country, and it is known for its music, sports and architecture among other things. A number of popular bands have come from Manchester, and in addition to a number of smaller venues for seeing music, it is home to the enormous Manchester Arena, which seats 21,000. The city is also home to two world-class soccer teams, Manchester United and Manchester City. Popular museums include the National Football Museum, the Museum of Science and Industry and the Manchester Art Gallery. There are also a number of interesting historical sites throughout the area including Castlefield, the original Roman settlement. Manchester is also located near a number of beautiful natural spots that can be reached in an hour or less including the Peak District and the Lake District.

Getting to and from Manchester

Manchester Airport is located in south Manchester. You can take the Metrolink tram between the airport and a number of locations throughout the city center. There are also trains from the airport to Manchester Piccadilly Train Station and several local buses available.
