AboutAs well as being the capital of the United Kingdom and England, London is one of the world's leading cities for commerce, culture and more. It was founded nearly 2,000 years ago as part of the Roman Empire. Some of its most popular sights are Buckingham Palace, home of the royal family; the Tower of London; and St. Paul's Cathedral. Many of its world-class museums, including the British Museum and the National Gallery, are free to visitors. London is also famous for shopping, including Harrod's Department Store and Oxford Street, and its theater, which is concentrated in the West End.
