The capital of the Philippines, Manila was colonized by Spain in the 16th century, and Intramuros, or the Walled City, is a remnant of those times. You can visit the San Agustin Church, a World Heritage Site, and many other historic sites there. Another popular tourist attraction is Rizal Park, one of Asia's largest urban parks that also include the National Museum of the Philippines. Manila is also considered one of the best places on the continent to shop with Divisoria as one of the most popular areas and many markets offering bargain prices. Other popular areas for tourists can be found along Manila Bay including a park called Baywalk.

Getting to and from Manila

Ninoy Aquino International Airport is only about 4 miles south of Manila. Nine different bus routes run from the airport to various places in the city. Taxis and small buses known, as jeepneys are also available to either take you into the city or to train lines near the airport that run to the city.
