Sunny Beach is a modern resort city on the Black Sea. Attractions include the long stretch of sandy coastline, numerous adrenaline-pumping water sports and two water parks. Situated nearby, the ancient port city of Nessebar has several UNESCO-listed historic buildings and churches. The beach promenade and pier offer views of the city and water. The resort features numerous restaurants and an active nightlife. It also hosts the annual International Folklore Festival and several beach competitions. The main tourist season runs from mid-June through the end of August when the humid, subtropical climate produces temperatures reaching into the upper 80s as well as abundant sunshine.

Getting to and from Sunny Beach

Holiday travelers typically reach Sunny Beach via Burgas Airport, which is located 25 kilometers to the south. It is the second largest airport in Bulgaria. The single terminal handles domestic and international operations. Along with taxi service, the route of a public bus travels to and from the terminal and Sunny Beach. When driving a rental car, travelers can use the I-9 motorway that connects the airport and resort. The trip takes approximately 40 minutes. Another option is Varna Airport situated 90 kilometers to the north.
