Known as the City of Lights, Paris is the cosmopolitan capital of France. The cultural and economic hub of the country, it is home to several governmental agencies and national institutions. Getting to and from

Charles de Gaulle International Airport is the main aviation gateway into the city. It is located 25 kilometers northeast of the center of Paris on autoroute A1. Several regional and express trains depart every hour to connect the airport to various intermediate stops as well as the main Gare du Nord station in Paris. Travel on the express train takes approximately 30 minutes. The Roissybus, operated by the regional Paris transportation group, runs from outside Terminals 1 and 2 nonstop to Palais Garnier. Passengers may also arrive at Orly Airport 8 miles south of the city. It is connected to Paris by a combination of free automatic shuttles and commercial train and bus services.
