Shenzhen is in the Guangdong Province of China in south China. It is a UNESCO Creative City, meaning that it is recognized for its support of innovation and creativity. In just a few decades, it has gone from a collection of farming and fishing villages to a thriving modern economy. Its beaches, architecture, theme parks, art scene, shopping and entertainment are all draws for visitors. Its amusement parks are hugely popular among Chinese tourists and include Window of the World, Splendid China and the Happy Valley Theme Park. The city is also known for being one of the greenest in the country, and there are many parks and gardens including Lianhuashan Park, Fairy Lake Botanical Gardens and Wutong Mountain National Park. Shenzhen also has several historical sites of interest such as the 14th century Dapeng Ancient Fort and the Xin'an Ancient City.

Getting to and from Shenzhen

Shenzhen Bao'an International Airport is about 22 miles from Shenzhen. Metro line 11, also called the Airport Express line, runs from Terminal 3 to Shenzhen. Many regular buses and several different Airport Express bus lines also between the airport and various destinations throughout the area including Shenzhen.
