About

Belgrade is home to Art Nouveau architectural masterpieces, remnants of the Habsburg dynasty and relics of the Ottoman Empire. Situated at the confluence of the Sava and Danube Rivers, the capital of Serbia is the center of commerce and culture. It has a variety of national institutions and government agencies. Known as the White City, it boasts lively pedestrian boulevards flanked by charming Old World cafes. Along with the ancient Kalemegdan Citadel and verdant parks, there are museums reflecting the nation’s cultural, religious and military history. Belgrade features four distinct seasons with summer highs above 80 degrees and winter lows near freezing.

Getting to and from Belgrade

The main aviation gateway into the country, Belgrade Nikola Tesla Airport is located 18 kilometers west of downtown near the A3 motorway. Along with rental cars and taxis, scheduled bus service connects the terminals with the Zeleni Venac market in the city center. Buses operated by the GSP Belgrade public transit system depart twice per hour. Tickets are purchased from a newsstand and food retailer inside the departure hall. The trip takes approximately 60 minutes.
