About

Osaka is either the second or third-largest city in Japan depending on how its population is counted and has one of the most popular tourist attractions in the country, Osaka Castle. It is located in south-central Japan's Kansai region and is known for its food, shopping, nightlife and sake. The dying art of Edo-era bunraku, a kind of puppet theater, can still be seen at the National Bunraku Theater, and you can get an English synopsis of the performance. The city's history can be explored at the Osaka Museum of History, and at 1800 years old, the Sumiyoshi Shrine is one of the oldest in Japan.
