Disapointing hostel. It has potential and looks like it was a great hostel 20 years ago, however it is run down and looks like zero upgrades in 20 years. 1 socket for a dorm of 4 people, dirty pool, poor cleanliness, no fans in the room and I spotted and squashed a bedbug.

As a visitor of this outstanding hostel, I cannot recommend it highly enough. From the moment I arrived, I was greeted with the utmost friendliness and warmth, making me feel instantly at home.
The cleanliness of the hostel is impeccable, with every detail thoughtfully attended to. I felt comfortable and safe in my surroundings, allowing me to truly relax and enjoy my stay.
But what truly sets this hostel apart is the sense of community and connection that permeates every interaction. From the staff to the other guests, everyone was so welcoming and kind, creating a truly special atmosphere.
If you're looking for a hostel that feels like a home away from home, look no further. This hostel is an absolute gem and I urge you to experience it for yourself. You won't be disappointed.

Poor
The location and the fascinating collection of oddballs in the bar.
7:00 breakfast finally served at 10:45. Poorly equiped, very poorly maintained proerty. The pool is a little more than a fish-pond insize and was very unclean.

The set up outside was very good
I had an absolutely horrendous experience at Lusaka Backpackers Lodge. Upon arrival, we were told that our booking had not been confirmed and that the rooms were all fully booked. The receptionist asked us to cancel our booking on booking.com, which we couldn't do at midnight. We were then charged K450 or US$30, and when we inquired about the wi-fi, we were told it was not available.
To make matters worse, the room was infested with bed bugs, causing us to have a sleepless night and forcing us to sit outside until morning. The staff was unhelpful and nowhere to be found when we needed assistance.
I would advise anyone considering staying at Lusaka Backpackers Lodge to look elsewhere for accommodation. This was by far the worst lodging experience I have ever had.

The accommodation is safe and there are security guards at the door. Basic services are available, and taxi services are also provided.
Sanitary conditions are very poor. The bed in the room was not clean, there were blood stains, and the blanket was very dusty. The swimming pool in the yard is very dirty and you can't see the bottom of the pool. I don't think anyone would ever get into the water here.

Wonderful
This is one of the few cheap hostels (or backpackers lodge as it's known in Zambia) that cater for regional and international travelers. It's fun generally. The staff are great, very helpful, fun and friendly. The food and beer is cheap. The setting is good. Location; 10 min walk from the main bus station or to Cairo Street. 5 min by taxi to the main night life area. I stayed again when I came back to Lusaka. They even gave me a discount for the private room and it became my home away from home.
The only little thing is that everything is old. Old and nice generally, but needs a bit of maintenance, like lights, door knobs and paint job, etc. But no complaints if you are looking for a cheap place.

Its close to town
The rooms and showers are not hygienic, especially for a place like Zambia which has a cholera outbreak. The bedding was not ironed. Mosquito nets were very dirty I couldn't use them. The room smelt unpleasant

The room was nice and clean. The bar was good. However the bathrooms need more care, because the shower was too hot and the place itself need some repairs.
I liked the hostel. maybe the swimming pool could be cleaner

The property was fairly close to the city center and the staff were at least somewhat friendly. The prices of the beer and food were also reasonable, the artwork throughout the building was very cute, and the building itself was simple and nice.
The WiFi signal was weak, we were all bitten by bedbugs, the showers smelled a bit like urine, there was no soap near the sink (soap dispensers were empty), and I did not get all of my change back after I paid. My accommodation was 245 Kwacha, I gave 300 Kwacha, and I only received 50 Kwacha back instead of 55. Reception said they were out of change and that they would give me my 5 Kwacha back later, but never did. I did not think that the food and beer options were very good, either. I did not dislike this hostel completely, but I do think that there is definitely room for improvement.
