Lovely spacious cottage with beautiful vintage and antique furniture. The bed was very comfy. The setting is beautiful, and very private (once the kitchen closes). It's a great place to enjoy the gorgeous sunset with some wine.

Wonderful stay. The scenery and views are gorgeous., really nice breakfast, and the pool was a lovely treat. The location is excellent and the people were very friendly. Would definitely recommend.

Overall we had a delightful stay. The location is stunning and peaceful. It was wonderful to do a wine tasting and then retire to our cottage next door at the end of the day. The breakfast was tremendous - best we had on our trip in South Africa. A wine tasting was included. There's a great set of books to read and a fireplace if you want a cozy evening.
The check-in process was very unclear. We stated our estimated arrival was before 3 PM, but we had travel delays. I looked at the booking and it said check-in was until 5 PM, so we didn't think we needed to notify Muratie that we were running late. We arrived around 4 PM and could not figure out where to go. We eventually came across someone who seemed very put out that we were late; I fear he may have been waiting for us the whole time as I realized only then there is no reception office (which I did not know from the booking). I apologized sincerely, but he was curt and barely gave us an orientation to the room. It would be helpful for all parties to make it more clear to guests where to park, how to coordinate arrival so no one is waiting, and where to go to check-in. Again, we are sorry we were late! We did not mean to cause anyone to wait on us. There was mold all around the bathroom sink. The property seems aware of this from other reviews and they said they plan to upgrade soon. While this place is charming and comfortable, it is a bit musty. However, the pros outweigh the areas for improvement, so we would recommend this place to anyone who wants a peaceful stay outside of Stellenbosch.

Very authentic place, unforgettable experience. We had a living room, a kitchen and a bedroom and everything was very cosy. Tasty breakfast.
Only one bad thing was mould in the bathroom.

Muratie is the most perfect vineyard in the Cape to get a true old fashioned experience but yet staying in great comfort. We knew Muratie from years back when we lived in South Africa and loved visiting it with our children. It thankfully has not changed at all and has kept its old world charm! Our cottage was superb, extremely comfortable and the sitting area outside was so private and cool. It was wonderful having the fridge there, well stocked with delicious wines at a good price. We loved the breakfasts, beautifully served in the heavenly garden and all the staff were so helpful and friendly. We had a wonderful lunch at the restaurant and really enjoyed the complimentary wine tasting. We loved every second here and will definitely stay again when we return to South Africa. Definitely the best place to stay!
We could wish that the restaurant was open for longer in the evening but having said that we knew about this before we booked and it made no difference to our enjoyment!
