Upon arrival the receptionist was not in the office and we had to wait for her to come assist us. Her dress code was not good (clumsily dressed) yet she was to meet customers. Upon check out there was no one at the reception and security officer was also not there thus delayed departure.
We had requested a non smoking area but we were exposed to smoking area which impacted our health as we are asthmatic. The facility must have a wing for non smokers and not book them in the same area with smokers.
We wanted to have coffee but there was no kettle in the room neither was there one in the communal kitchen. Each room should have its own kettle

Unfortunately we did not have any breakfast at the guest house as the Cwena conference awards we attended catered for us but the location was lovely. I felt safe and was very happy.
Hehehehe I love my coffee so we didn’t have coffee sachets and that is what I missed in the morning but we managed to stock up on some sachets.

Over the past weekend, my wife and I stayed at Houghton Guest House, which unfortunately turned out to be an extremely disappointing experience. Upon arrival, we noticed the guest house was not as advertised. The cleanliness standards were far below what we expected. The bedding appeared unwashed, which caused us considerable discomfort throughout our stay.
Additionally, the service was lacking. Despite our repeated requests for basic amenities, the staff failed to meet our needs entirely. We did not even have the key to our room and had to ask the guard on duty to assist, which meant he had to lend us his master key so we can be able to secure the room.
Overall, our stay was unpleasant and far from what we had anticipated. We would not recommend this guest house to others and feel disappointed in the quality of service provided.

Nothing at all except that the lady is kind.
I didn't like our room had no TV, our shower was broken, our air con was not working as we were not given the remote and the duvet had stains. I'm so disappointed. The owner is using just one person to do everything which is not practical.

Nothing at all.totally pathetic.

I left the guest house immediately, did not stay even for a minute
The owner should be ashamed for keeping the place so unkempt, filthy , and unappealing
The parking facilities were equally pathetic with limited spaces available, and the security guards suggested parking in the street outside the guest house if the parking was full!
Totally unacceptable and disappointing to say the least
I suggest an inspection of the premises and grading of the place to be reconsidered.
Furthermore my wife's vanity bag went missing in the short time that we were there , while checking out the premises

The location and the reception lady Samu, she was so friendly and welcoming. She did attend us throughout our stay and was very helpful
There was shortage of blankets and the aircons were not working in some rooms first night and it was very very cold. The guests are not happy at all about that situation. But I am happy the management sorted the problem second night
