Wonderful
Check-in. Excellent location near to restaurants and food store. Lovely shaded patio.
This is a townhouse on 3 levels so the stairs can be a bit challenging.

This is a wonderful location with many shops and restaurants in walking distance, as well as some tourist attractions. The apartment felt clean, safe, and spacious. The hot tub did not work when we first arrived. We reported it and they sent a staff to fix it right away.
It was all good.

We loved this accommodation in the Waterkant area of Cape Town. Lots of space, beautifully furnished rooms, everyone had their own bathroom. The small pool was much appreciated in the heat and the roof terrace was a wonderful place to chill out.

Staying in De Waterkant has always been a dream, with its beautifully colourful buildings and charming atmosphere. When an impromptu trip to Cape Town came up, we jumped at the chance to book 139 Waterkant Cottage – and it was absolutely worth it!
The two-bedroom house was stunningly renovated, blending historic charm with modern comfort. The neighbourhood itself is incredibly safe and artsy, making evening strolls after work an absolute pleasure. I only wish this trip were longer – I could easily stay for a month or more!
A special mention to James, who was responsive, engaged, and incredibly helpful throughout our stay. Given the ever-changing nature of our plans due to a family bereavement, his support made all the difference.
If you're considering a stay in Cape Town, I can’t recommend 139 Waterkant Cottage highly enough – a truly wonderful experience!

Good
The perfect location for a traveller needing to be central to the City. Lovely shops and restaurants in walking distance, comprehensive guest file with suggestions of local attractions to try.
Being De Waterkant you should be fit as you will walking up and down steep hills. Walking any distance from your car to your accommodation with a wheeled suitcase is a rough trek on cobbled roads (especially up the hills!). Street parking is limited, although you can park securely in the Cape Quarter paid parkade and walk.

Wonderful
Very nice apartment. Spotlessly clean, perfect location, quiet and comfortable. Highly recommend but may be uncomfortable on hot summer months. Perfect for other times.
The unit has no AC which you need on brutally hot days like the several we experienced. Sleeping at night was extremely uncomfortable. There is a ceiling fan in the bedroom although the controls were malfunctioning; it would switch from low to high automatically and the high function was too strong to leave on while sleeping. Brought this to management’s attention with no resolution. Wouldn’t normally be a problem except on very hot days.
Check-in times are very restricted — only around 3 hours in the afternoon. An additional fee is required after those hours unless you use their excessively priced airport transfer.
Lastly, payment process is cumbersome and confusing. They do not accept payment from booking.com. Requires three separate transactions for hotel, refundable security fee and airport transfers. The staff is very kind and patient in explaining this. Thank you.

Very Poor
It was modern and clean. But that’s where the charm ended.
There were too many rules. Incompetent and rude staff. Security not returned yet after 7days even though they confirmed that all was in order. At precisely 10:10 there was a knock on the door with the staff reminding me of the check out policy no greeting. I was angry as I’d paid almost R 11,000 (£450) for two nights.
