The area is a construction site and that detracted from my expectations. I suspect it may be more convenient once the construction is completed. The staff I met on the first night was not warm and welcoming. This was in contrast to the other staffers I encountered during my stay. They were pleasant and helpful. The policy of charging persons for parking a few minutes in the parking lot for a pickup was quite surprising to me. It's not that someone is trying to use the parking lot without reason to access a building in the area. You are picking up someone who has paid to stay at the hotel. That should make a difference. I was however, satisfied with the way the supervisor handled our surprise at this situation.
The reception area needs to be warmer and friendlier. It is very basic. I understand that this is a University Hotel, but the rate is not dirt cheap, so the lobby area could be improved to be more aesthetically pleasing.

Great value for your money in downtown Houston. The hotel is a great location. If you need to attend events on campus, everything is in walking distance. The hotel staff was courteous and professional at check in. The rooms are very large with two and a sitting area/work station and desk. The bed was comfy eith plush linens.
