Very Poor
I liked the atmosphere walking into the hotel.
I didn’t like my hotel room. I was moved from one due to the mildew smell and the other room still smelled like mildew. The carpet was old. The flooring was dirty. There was blood splatter on the wall and the floor. There was hair that was not mine in the shower drain. The room wasn’t clean.

The lobby is very beautiful and impressive. The building itself is aesthetically pleasing and well located. There is also a nice café in the lobby, which is convenient for breakfast.
Upon arrival, we were initially given a room different from the one we had booked — it was smaller and clearly cheaper. Later we were moved to another room, but we had to wait while it was being cleaned. Unfortunately, when we finally checked in, the cleanliness was unacceptable: the room was full of hair, the upper shelves of the wardrobe were covered in dust, under the beds it looked like no one had cleaned for months, and the windows were dirty.
I strongly do not recommend leaving a security deposit at this hotel. First, USD 200 was charged from my card, and then, a few days later, an additional USD 400 was inexplicably charged without my consent. The money has not been returned for over a month. The hotel does not respond to emails at all, and despite several phone calls, there has been no reaction. Booking.com has also been unable to resolve this issue. We did not use the minibar.
At check-out, we fully paid for everything we used. I repeatedly asked the reception to provide an official receipt detailing accommodation and food charges, but this was refused. The staff simply said that everything was settled. As far as I understand, providing such a receipt is a legal obligation.
Update:
Following this review, Booking.com conducted a detailed investigation of the case. The issue has now been fully resolved. All disputed charges were refunded, and additionally, the full cost of my stay was returned as a goodwill gesture.
While the issues described above did occur and caused significant frustration at the time, I appreciate that the matter was ultimately handled professionally and fairly. I am updating this review to reflect the final outcome.

Location is great, room is clean, like the cafe in hotel the most.
Room is a bit small, heating/AC is not working well, it’s too loud and cannot heat the room, didn’t sleep well and feel cold.

The history of the hotel and layout
Our body scrub was almost entirely empty when we checked in and upgraded to a jr suite. It took a day to get that filled back up.

Location.
Stayed 1 night. Had several issues:
1. The drain wasn't working in either the bathroom or the toilet.
2. Noise disrupted my sleep.
I changed the room in the morning, new room was fine, but night was ruined.
3. Pricy and very slow valet parking. They check you in using mobile text message. But if you have nonUS number, you are in trouble.
4. Even though I made a reservation for 4 persons with breakfast included, I received a breakfast for 2 persons only. Had to pay extra. BTW they charge you 20% service automatically and then ask for tips on top of that. Breakfast was average

Location was great and central. General facilities of the hotel are nice. They had a winter village set up over the pool during our stay which was fantastic! Amazing food and drinks. View from our room was good. Elevators are small but fast. They have a bellhop service which was utilized and was appreciated. Staff in the café were very friendly.
Unfortunately we had a booking that included breakfast and we were not informed upon check in which was disappointing. Therefore we weren't able to get breakfast, even though we had already paid for it. There was also some disconnection between Booking and Adolphus regarding the amount our credit card was charged. We were charged twice and this double amount is yet to be released. Lastly we asked for our room to be cleaned and unfortunately it never was. Another disappointing aspect of the hotels service.

Poor
The Adolphus is a beautiful hotel; I have stayed many times and have always loved the history and the attention to detail. This was such a disappointing and different experience. I don’t think I will ever go back.
The Adolphus management booked so many events the staff could not keep up. They were trying to maintain service for a wedding- perhaps two, a shower, and another event. We could not get into our room because it was not ready and were unable to make our dinner reservation. As we sat in the bar area, very young wedding guests filled the area with nowhere else to go and were loud and out of control. When we discussed the situation with a manager, he responded, “Yes, this is a busy hotel.”
Just incredibly disappointing to see this property with so much to offer become what amounts to a fraternity house because the management doesn’t have better judgment.

It was gorgeous and easy to navigate.
It got a little difficult when weddings were present to get vehicle from Valet. So give yourself some extra time on those days to get your vehicle.

Wonderful
Beautiful inside. The hotel had a charming, old-meets-new feel—boutique in style but with modern updates. The room was huge, and the two-king bed option was fantastic. Loved the variety of restaurants and bars, from live music at the Rodeo Bar to the more upscale lobby lounge.
Elevators were on the smaller side, though they added to the hotel’s character.
