Amenities were great and nothing was overcrowded.
Bathroom was a little dirty when we checked in. Staff did come and clean it after we requested it. Our room had the balcony furthest from the pool and beach. Obviously, someone has to get this one, but stinks it was us.

Washer and dryer in unit. Ocean front.
If I could give this hotel a zero star, I would. The rooms are very old looking and they smell very musky. My husband and I had to go out and buy air fresheners for our room. It was that bad. The whole hotel smells as soon as you walk through the doors. Nothing is updated like they stated. I like to know where this million dollar renovation went towards because it’s definitely wasn’t in our room. The elevators are extremely slow. There’s not enough elevators for the number of rooms. The lazy river is not a lazy river. There’s no current flow to it. There is absolutely not enough parking. The maids are lazy. Only thing they did was take the trash. The list could go on and on. I do not recommend staying here and we definitely will not be back.

The hotel is conveniently located on the beach. The beach is not too crowded and is clean.
The room and amenities in the room are old and urgently require a renovation. The air in the room felt musty. The food was expensive and not very good. During the stay there was flooding on 1st floor, water was shut off, and elevators did not work (forcing us to climb the stairs to the 6th floor). Room service was very poor (simply emptied the garbage can and swapped the towels, but did not clean anything and did not provide new toiletries). We were expecting the hotel to provide umbrellas and chairs for the beach, but they did not. Rental umbrellas with chairs were offered for a $55/day fee, which did not seem reasonable at all. We had to carry our own umbrella and chairs to the beach. For the price paid, one would expect the hotel to provide more services. Overall, the hotel is overpriced for the quality of the amenities it provides.

Rooms were nice
The house keeping service didnt come by very often.. the pools were only cleaned one time the whole stay. The elevators were a complete disaster and once the fire alarms went off twice during the stay it got even worse.

Location. Rooms had kitchen facilities.
Not enough lounge chairs in pool area. Never did get one! Kids running everywhere. Lifeguards on phone not paying attention.

The location on the beach was great. The pool area was nice, and the bar had good drinks and good food. This was the best part of the hotel.
The hotel flooded twice while we were there, with leaks, so part of our group had to switch hotels last minute due to damage to their room. Switching hotels was difficult as everything is booked in the summer. We had a large group with 12 rooms, so we saw it all. The rooms were clean, but even the updated ones were just okay. Kind of a surface remodel or face lift to the updated rooms. The older rooms have carpeting, which was annoying with all the sand. The showers had issues getting water and water pressure. Some of the stoves didn't work in the bigger units. Overall, if you're not going to hang out in the room and just go to the beach, you're fine; otherwise, it's just an old Myrtle Beach hotel.

The location was excellent! The staff were kind that cared for us while we were there except the check in folks. They were rude! Our rooms were over an hour delayed. I was asked to let other customers in front of me until they figured out the issues with my rooms. I booked two rooms that were supposed to be together or at least side by side. However they booked one on the 11th floor and one on the 15th floor which separated us from our family. I asked for it to be corrected and they refused to accommodate our needs. It sure wasn’t the issue to take our money. Common sense tells you if you are booking two rooms they need to be together. Very rude customer service. The rooms were booked way in advance and I’ll probably never trust Ocean reef with our vacationing needs ever again
The property outside was absolutely beautiful. The rooms were too small and crowded and the smell outside our rooms was absolutely disgusting

Disappointing
Great location. The hotel is right on the beach and it's wonderful to walk right out to the ocean.
I was very disappointed in the hotel. I'm not very picky and I don't need anything fancy, but it was shocking to see how crappy the rooms were and how bad the customer service was.
