LOVED the staff, they took such a good care of us, everyone was very kind. The hotel itself was clean, had a magnificent location, and rooms were comfy- everything we needed after a long trip from Poland

Great location and the breakfast/evening tapas and drinks are great! (Ensure you know this is an extra charge)
We had 2 rooms. Ours wasn't ready by 6pm when check in is 4pm! Not a great start. My parents room has numerous issues. Firstly the phone didnt work so they had to go down 20 floors each time they had a problem. Their air con was also broken (fixed after two complaints). On the first morning it wasn't cleaned until we asked for it to be done...this was in the evening! The hallways etc look very tired. It needs some investment I'd say.

Nothing.
This hotel is a fraud. It is rated 5* and charges accordingly but it is really no higher than 3*. tiny room, smelly, no robe or slippers, empty fridge, sheets were unironed, none of the usual vanity supplies in the bathroom, no bar downstairs, terrible breakfast in an airport lounge style room, lifts that are shared with another hotel in the same building and you find yourself in a different lobby. We flew from Ireland as we just got engaged, we decided we would go with a smaller boutique hotel in NYC as we thought it would try to make us celebrate the occasion. I even wrote ahead of time informing!
Receptionist didn’t even know nor did any of the staff, and we weren’t congratulated once or it wasn’t even mentioned which is disappointing - it doesn’t take much, chocolate on the pillow, a note or something- just missing that personal touch you’d associate with 5 star hotels. You would think even as we arrived at 2pm you’d at least do an early check in at the very minimum instead we had to wait till 4pm.
After travelling that far and with notice you’d assume something would be done. (this is also reflected as after NYC we travelled further to Cape Cod and received a lovely, warm, celebratory welcome, which would have been nice as NYC was the first stop).
Also claiming the breakfast and the food is complementary but then charging a hidden residence fee is also not what you would associate with a 5 star hotel.

Unfortunately, upon checking out after 4 nights (and already pre-paying through booking.com), I was hit with a further bill of over $550 for residency fees and city taxes. The hotel said this was not covered by Booking.com. Booking.com says it was on booking.
Neither party has responded to my messages. I have given both ample opportunity.

Exceptional
The hotel is beautiful, the location is perfect just below Central Park and next to a subway station, the room was a great size and very clean, the breakfast was good and the staff were wonderful. The evening tapas and drinks that are included in the cost are a great addition and many evenings we just had that as our main dinner. I would absolutely recommend this hotel to anybody and I look forward to staying here again next time I'm in New York. Thank you!
