Super cute
Asked for thermostat to be fixed as I was boiling. No one came. Huge hair clog in the shower left for me to deal with, literally the cleaning staff pulled the plug out and left it in the tub with a massive hair clump attached.

Very Good
The room was very cute. I liked how we could get snacks from the little eating area at any time.
When I got back from a long day of walking, my keycard did not work, so I had to go back to the lobby to get my key to work again. The worker was very nice about it, but it was just a bit annoying.

Staff members are very friendly and helpful
Room carpets are old. Its dusty and smells. They have to replace them.

Wonderful
All the staff I encountered were kind, coyrteous and efficient. The ambience was old-fashioned, in a very comfortable way.
free newspaper in the lobby had a religious bent; in-room technology was outdated; slow elevator

Loved the staff and the cozy vibes so really didn’t have anything negative to say.

Disappointing
The space was nice , it smelled like mildew
It felt more like a hostel. They lock you in /out after 12a.m. not a hotel. Also not dog friendly. And the desk staff is rude. The room was nice but smelt like mold.v

The staff were friendly and helpful and the rooms clean and comfortable. The hotel is from the 1920's with all the beautiful decor.
Our next door neighbor (a bedraggled grungy looking big black man) had a prostitute in his room and the walls are very thin. He was clearly on drugs when we saw him getting out of the elevator alone later that evening. I didn't appreciate the sound of a woman being gagged and banged relentlessly at 6pm when I was checking into the room. It was disturbing.
The staff really ought to keep the men with prostitutes out of the hotel. I was sharing a room with my daughter and it was very embarrassing and disturbing.

Very Good
Classic old style New York hotel. I didn't think any hotels were still owned independently but this one is! I appreciate the 'old school' feel with classic fabrics and vintage furniture and lamps. Quaint breakfast room.
If you aren't familiar with the Wall Street neighborhood the location might be off-putting. It's down a little side street and could be intimidating if arriving alone late at night. Limited breakfast but I appreciate the availability 24-7 of coffee, snacks, etc. The one major complaint I had is that the heat wasn't working properly in my room so it was pretty cold at night! I didn't complain since it was late when I returned to my room and I prefer sleeping with a cool temp anyway. If I had stayed another night I would have said something.

Poor
All furniture stinks. Carpet has a lot of stains. Breakfast should not be called “breakfast” - few pieces of bread. Everything is dirty and very old.

Large, comfortable room and bathroom - much bigger than many NYC rooms! Very clean. Very good value.
More/better breakfast would be nice, but overall this is a very good place! Nothing I disliked.

Breakfast was pretty good with a waffle machine and small variety of pastries. Location and price were very convenient for our early morning trip to the Statue of Liberty the next day. Room size was OK for a family of 4. The staff were really nice and kept offering peppermint candy to my kids.
The only downside is that the room has the old humid smell.

Wonderful
Very clean and the staff were all friendly and welcoming.
The door to the room wasn’t very soundproof and I could hear everyone walking around in the hallway and the elevator.
