The ceiling in our bathroom fell down during the night. Originally dismissing this as a standard for comically overpriced/bad accommodations in the city, it was actually pretty dangerous and we were lucky it didn't happen shortly before, when one of us was using the shower. We were handed keys to a different room. There was no further mention of the incident from staff until we brought it up when checking out. We were advised at that point that we should settle any disputes/requests for refunds with booking.com directly, but booking.com cannot do anything unless the hotel responds directly to their emails about the incident. I have also emailed the hotel four times about the incident and they have not answered a single email.
In short, I have paid less to stay in better (and safer) hotels in NYC, and wouldn't recommend the Shoreham.
*Update: The response below, from the hotel, is the first acknowledgement of the incident that I have received. Would appreciate it if you responded to one of my four emails/personal messages on booking.

The location is awesome if you are staying for a few days and need a place close to the Times Square, subway and all the good points to visit.
It is old, not very clean and some noise at night. But it didn’t matter much if you are staying away almost all day long.

Wasn’t able to use the hotels internet to stream any shows, despite advertising having fast high speed internet. The hotel wifi wouldn’t not work at all on the tv, despite saying it was connected. Needed to use my hotspot the entire time to connect the tv to internet to stream shows.

It’s maximum 2 star hotel , doesn’t look like the pics
My room was right next to the elevator, so my bed was behind the elevator and every second I hear the elevator going up and down ,morning , night , even when I was sleeping
Even I told to the receptionist to change my room
They said that they will change it the second day
But no one changed my room , so never again

Amazing location and good size room. Bonus balcony and great views. The staff were friendly and helpful.

Location, staff was nice and welcoming
I stayed here a few times but on one occasion my checkin time was at 3 and my room was not ready until about 10 pm. I was with my 4 year old baby and wife. We had to change in the bathroom near the lobby. I talked to manager but he was no help. The other staff that were there were very nice but weren’t able to help me. Wasnt very happy.

Location is good. A few blocks from Rockefeller center and a few more from Time Square and the theatre district.
Our room was fairly quiet/faced an alley. Nice to have shampoo/soap in the shower.
Lobby is pretty charmless, and the room while adequately furnished had hardly any decor to it, and minimal outlets for charging phones. Carpet was OLD. Staff got the job done but were not especially welcoming.

Location was ideal to all major attractions .
Many things were difficult with this stay - we didn’t have a key card for the first 48 hrs of our stay. Then when we got them door was dead and had to be serviced at 10 pm. No doors on bedrooms at all, pictures online were of the 1 bedroom not the two bedrooms. Rooms were dingy and not very clean. One room had big dents with missing paint around where our head was.
