Room needed to be furnished properly. It had old desks only one side table on a king size bed no real furniture very bad little chair to sit on and one ottoman to put something on it needs to be properly decorated. Also that has some old lamp that was falling apart on the desk and the lighting needs to be reworked. Also, the lobby needs to be updated. Doesn’t seem to have any security. You can walk right in off the street and go to the elevator.

Shower was trickling water out, and wifi setup was some of the worst I've ever seen with a third party scam like site. TV had no connection and walls seemed paper thin.

Everything went above and beyond my expectations here. After having the worst stay the night before, we checked in a little too early, told them our situation, they let us check in earlier than we should have, and gave us a complimentary upgrade on our room. Never in my life have I stayed in a hotel room with a living room separate from the sleeping quarters!
This hotel was way worth the price, the staff were so friendly, and this hotel was extremely walkable. And there is a wonderful bodega right up on the corner about half a block!
When I go back to New York you better believe I will only be staying at The Shoreham.
The elevators were very tiny and I’m claustrophobic haha but other than that it was absolutely a perfect end to our vacation.

Very attentive and nice staff. The room was big enough, the bed comfortable and the shower was decent too (could’ve been warmer water).
I couldn’t figure out the AC at first an it was freezing.

The location was excellent! The hotel felt clean, safe, and welcoming. The room also was a decent size for New York. Three of us were able to stay in the double queen room comfortably. Further, the staff at the front desk was really helpful.
The building was on the older side. But for the price and location in NYC, it's a great deal.

the location
was given a room that had someone else’s stuff in there upon arrival, i also had the led lights coming down from the ceilings, rude staff when trying to get help, they seem to always be talking about someone because when you walk by, they stop talking. very weird energy. we did not get greeted any time we came in or left.

Bed was comfortable. Shower was fantastic (water pressure/temp/shower head/stall size). My floor was quiet. Staff was friendly and attentive, from the lady mopping the floor near the elevators to the front desk folk. Wonderfully nice. Great location for midtown & jaunts to upper east side. Excellent value.
Room was super hot when I arrived. Took many hours with the A/C to cool it down.

Very Poor
The ceiling in our bathroom fell down during the night. Originally dismissing this as a standard for comically overpriced/bad accommodations in the city, it was actually pretty dangerous and we were lucky it didn't happen shortly before, when one of us was using the shower. We were handed keys to a different room. There was no further mention of the incident from staff until we brought it up when checking out. We were advised at that point that we should settle any disputes/requests for refunds with booking.com directly, but booking.com cannot do anything unless the hotel responds directly to their emails about the incident. I have also emailed the hotel four times about the incident and they have not answered a single email.
In short, I have paid less to stay in better (and safer) hotels in NYC, and wouldn't recommend the Shoreham.
*Update: The response below, from the hotel, is the first acknowledgement of the incident that I have received. Would appreciate it if you responded to one of my four emails/personal messages on booking.
