Good
Great location, minutes away from Grand Central Station. Boutique hotel feel, comfortable mattress
Front entrance doors to hotel are heavy and not automatic with stairs upon entry, so hard with luggage. Hot water fluctuated, pillows were flat, safe didn’t work.

The staff are amazing. Attentive, knowledgeable no long lines. The rooms are some of the largest and well maintained in the area. For only having two elevators there is never a wait like most places in the surrounding area.
The only complaint is the small set of stairs upon entry. Although staff do run over to assist. Sometimes it can be difficult trying to get luggage up the stairs only on off-hours .

Location near everything Wifi Kind staff
They say it's a boutique hotel, but in my room there was only one wall painted black. No nice decor. I arrived very early and asked for an early check-in. They charged me US$75. So far, so good. When I got to the room, there was no pillow or water bottles, and the temperature in the room was freezing. The housekeeping staff kept waking me up to clean the room at 11 am. I don't understand, because the hotel has 5 hours (until 4 pm, which is the check-in time). There was no water in the room for almost the last few days, but they resolved it promptly. And don't forget, if you stay at this hotel during a cold season, which was my case when it was very cold, they don't have heating. I also found the carpet dirty.

Beautiful property, staff was amazing and so helpful!
The cleanliness of the rooms was below average for the price. Bathtub took forever to drain so you looked at dirty water for a solid hour after the shower, toothpaste on the walls and just slightly grimy.

Room size is larger than many hotels in NYC, many nice restaurants are nearby, subway station and Grand Central is 1 block away and from there I went everywhere in NYC within my itinerary.
Room cleaning service stopped due to holiday!! Wash basin / sink is extremely small

Disappointing
We stayed at The Renwick Hotel in New York, and the experience was very unpleasant. Our first room (402) was in very poor condition: cracked walls and ceiling, mold on the bathroom window, and a bathtub that was visibly dirty and gray, as if deeply stained from heavy use. The air conditioner was extremely noisy even on the lowest setting, and overall the room felt neglected and uncomfortable. Before arrival, we specifically requested a better, higher-floor room to celebrate my wife’s 40th birthday anniversary. We were told this would be taken care of, but nothing was done. On the contrary, we were given a very poor room. After complaining, we were moved to another room (503), one floor higher. This room also had cracks and was not in good condition, but it was more tolerable than the first one. In addition, when we complained at the front desk, we were told to pack our belongings and that everything would be transferred to the new room. When we returned later that day, nothing had been moved, and no one was aware of this promise. We had to explain the entire situation again before the room change was finally handled. Because of these circumstances and the very low level of room maintenance, we would not choose to stay at The Renwick again, as we do not want to stay in rooms maintained at such a poor standard.

The renwick is 2 blocks from Gran Central which makes travel to all parts of the city quite easy. The room although small was quite clean and comfortable. The staff was very helpful during stay.
There are 2 elevators for multiple floors so getting one especially in the morning is kind of like lotto :-). But otherwise a nice hotel.

Pleasant
The location met my needs, the staff were pleasant
The bed was not comfortable for me (there was a dent in the mattress), the room felt cramped… I missed a coffee/tea corner in the room - this seemed basic to me. The carpet in the room was poorly maintained (it was obvious that there was a moisture problem in the bathroom that damaged it) - it's a shame that the hotel didn't provide 'slippers' - it was really unpleasant to walk on the carpet. The water system is inconvenient to operate - hot/cold water changes by itself… It wasn't clear enough what the arrangement was with room service - the room wasn't cleaned twice due to a misunderstanding. We felt that we didn't get adequate value for the amount we paid.

The location is fabulous, the staff were great and the hotel decor is fun and artsy.
It wasn’t the cleanest hotel. The walls in the room looked like they hadn’t been washed in a long time. The first night was also quite noisy as there is a lounge that plays loud music till 1am. They moved us after the first night, thankfully.

Poor
Location, early check-in/late check-out options, great staff
During our stay, we encountered several issues that significantly affected our comfort. The bathtub drain was clogged, causing water to pool while showering. As a result, both my partner and I experienced skin irritation and rashes around our ankles. Additionally, the soap and shampoo provided appeared to be overly concentrated and caused a burning sensation on our skin. The radiator in the room was old and visibly unclean, and it emitted an unpleasant odor when the heating was in use. The temperature control was also inaccurate and inconsistent. Despite setting the thermostat to 86°F, the room remained extremely cold throughout the night and then overheated in the morning. Lastly, there were no trash cans provided in the room, which was inconvenient and unexpected for a hotel stay. Overall, these issues reflect a lack of proper maintenance and negatively impacted our experience.

Fair
The location was amazing. Steps away from Grand Central.
Unfortunately, our stay was very disappointing and did not meet the standards expected of a 4-star hotel. The room was poorly cleaned upon arrival. The bathtub had visible stains, the carpet was old and heavily stained, and the TV remote had dried sauce on it. The nightstand drawer handles were filthy, and basic housekeeping tasks—such as wiping mirrors—were clearly neglected. Given how easily water splashes in the bathroom, clean mirrors should be the bare minimum. The bathroom was also far from what was advertised in the photos. The sink was so small that washing hands caused water to spill onto the floor, and the shower curtain was extremely short, resulting in puddles after every shower. Noise was another major issue. Early in the morning, housekeeping staff were having loud conversations directly outside our door, making it difficult to rest properly. For a hotel claiming to be 4-star, the lack of service was noticeable. No one offered assistance with our heavy luggage, which is typically standard at this level. The room layout was poorly designed. The TV was positioned directly in front of the bathroom door, making it easy to bump into when entering or exiting. Storage was very limited, with hardly any space for clothing and virtually nowhere in the bathroom to place basic items like a toothbrush or toiletries. The only shelf provided appeared unstable, so we had to resort to using the windowsill. Overall, the condition, service, and design of the room did not align with the hotel’s rating or online presentation. I would not recommend this property unless significant improvements are made.
