Employees were very attentive and helpful. Room was generous in size and pretty quiet for NYC. Location was very convenient to shopping, Times Square and theaters, restaurants and transportation. On a more quiet street in the garment district. Loved the roof top bar as well. We requested a small fridge and it came quickly, no extra charge.
The room was very dark and the largest light required you to plug and unplug it, no switch. The ice machine on our floor (7th) was broken so we had to request that. Minor hassle but for some it might be an issue.

Convenient restaurant with good food. Excellent mid-town location. Comfortable room.

Fantastic location in midtown near 5th Avenue. We were there Christmas week and so near Bryant Park and Rockefeller centre and department stores so felt very festive. Parker & Quinn (hotel restaurant) food and staff and atmosphere fantastic! Loved it there! Room was huge and cool ! Great decor! Cool, trendy hotel with very large rooms.
This didn’t seem like a true top 5* hotel to me. I sent about 4 emails to arrange transport to collect us from the airport. The replied to the 2nd one saying the taxi company they use would be in touch, they didn’t get in touch and The Refinery didn’t reply to my further 2 emails chasing it up. In the end we arranged our own taxi after asking re recommendations on social media. Arriving at the hotel and seeing how laid back the staff were it didn’t surprise me about the lack of communication. No doorman. Had to struggle with cases ourselves to reception desk. Reception desk staff were ok but not very interested or friendly. Just not a 5 star super efficient smiley experience (for context we usually stay at The Mercer and it’s a totally different experience there) We left the hotel at 4am and when our final bill was invoiced to us they had charged us for items from the mini bar we had not taken including a bottle or whiskey (check your final invoice carefully !!) Was then a pain to contact them to get the items removed. However when we did get through to them the person we spoke to did immediately remove them ) This wasn’t a great experience though. I feel this needs management to get on their staff to go above and beyond, be really friendly and super efficient and it would then offer a 5 star experience

When I needed to move the date of the reservation, Booking.com was unavailable by phone for days, and the Refinery was not permitted to do so. Very inefficient, burdensome, and disruptive.
Also, not enough convenient electric outlets in the room.

The studio King room we booked did not look anything like the images that was done through Booking.com and I always book through Booking.com and never have been disappointed before the room was very overwhelming. The blinds were strange and not enough fabric on them. Housekeeping really updated anything including not replenishing the water and toilet paper. Where the toilet was positioned was not convenient as you could see straight through the glass door so there was no privacy. On arrival there was nobody at the door to help us with our luggage as we had five bags. We had to wait around to be served for awhile and had to chase down staff to help us. We’d wanted to have a drink on arrival at the jazz bar but we were told we couldn’t do that unless we paid for entry although we did say we just want one drink before our check-in so that was difficult in addition to that the New Year’s Eve was not what we expected either we’re expecting a booth where we had the outside Terrace on those temperamental chairs. We expected to be inside with views overlooking the city but unfortunately we didn’t have our expectations met once again so the refinery hotel for us for New Year’s Eve purpose was a real letdown.

Big rooms. Good location.
Very noisy - we were on second floor and there was continual banging all night. There were 4 adults in our room but they only had 2 mugs and not enough towels. Also no free water in the room which is very poor. Doorman only present occasionally.
