I've stayed at the Ludlow many times, but this will be my last.
At check-in, I was placed in a room right next to the elevator. Realizing this, I went down to the front desk and asked for a change, since I'm a light sleeper. They moved me, but the new room had a bed that felt like it was on the verge of collapsing. I went down a second time and asked to upgrade to a different room type.
When I mentioned that I'd stayed here many times and had never encountered this before, the manager replied, "I'm unsure what you would like. The first room was next to the elevator, but if you had stayed here so many times, you would know that our elevators don't chime upon opening." I stopped her and said, "I don't want to argue. I simply want to upgrade to a different room, because the bed in the new one is resting on two wooden planks." Her response felt unnecessary — no guest is tracking whether an elevator chimes, and it was a strange first reaction to a request to pay for an upgrade.
After getting the key to a third room, a bellman walked me to the elevator to let me in. While waiting, I asked, "How's your day been?" and was met with complete silence.
I've never had an experience like this at the Ludlow, and it's disappointing, since it's one of my favorite hotels in the city. I have no desire to return.

Unfortunately, very little about the stay met our expectations. We had previously stayed at The Beekman and were told this was its sister hotel, but the difference between the two properties was worlds apart.
We paid $1,250 per night and were extremely disappointed. The room was so small that we could barely open a suitcase, the queen-size bed took up most of the space, and the tiny bathroom was almost impossible to move around in once the door was open. Even the coffee machine was inside the closet and had to be placed near the floor to reach an outlet. The entire room felt claustrophobic and gave us so much anxiety that we could not comfortably spend any time there beyond sleeping.
The hotel itself was extremely busy and messy, with the lobby constantly occupied by people who did not appear to be hotel guests, making it feel more like a crowded hostel than a luxury hotel. The elevators were very slow, outdated, and regularly smelled of food because they were also used by the staff. For this price, the overall experience and standard were completely unacceptable.

Location
The bar staff. Every time I stay here I get a bar person who I would not say is very friendly. To the point I wonder if I should stay here. She lacks Personality and friendliness. I always wonder why is she in hospitality

The location is in a hip, convenient eclectic neighborhood with dozens of restaurants in all price ranges within blocks. The hotel's lobby is vibrant, tastefully decorated and elegant. So inviting that there are people sitting in it at all hours of the day and night enjoying drinks and small bites. There is a very attractive restaurant right off the lobby but we did not eat there. We loved our Skybox suite. It is perfect for two people who want a little more room than just the bedroom. We will definitely stay there again.

We had a fantastic time at The Ludlow! From the very moment of our arrival the Team made us feel super welcomed and cared for. We liked it so much that we extended our stay twice and stayed in three different rooms - all three were tastefully designed and each one unique (...and very clean!). The neighborhood is very lively, so be prepared to jump right in the as soon as you step out of the door. With Katz Deli right across the street and other spots in close proximity - for us it was absolutely perfect. The relaxed and sweet Staff helped us out with a variety of small and bigger needs and were always swift and supportive. A big thank you to Jolyn, Brailyn, Andy, Jonathan and the rest! We can 100% recommend staying here!
