The location is incredible - central to a lot of great restuarants, shops, close to the metro. The hotel lounge was the highlight - comfortable seating groups, cozy fire, great selection of light fare and teas as well as drinks.
the elevator wait time could be long at times. being a NYC hotel, the room was very small but well decorated. wish for more counter space in the bathroom and bedside table.

There are only two positives I can think of: a large, bright bathroom, and very polite hotel staff.
Wow. Where do I even begin with one of the worst hotel experiences I’ve ever had? I arrived on New Year’s Eve, and the entire lobby was filled with people being obnoxiously loud. Yes, it was NYE, fine. But it made for a poor first impression and wasn’t what I would expect when entering a hotel. Perhaps this was the trendy hipster vibe they were going for. At check-in, I was informed that there would be an additional hold charged per night (around $70 for each night of my stay), which in my case amounted to over $200. This is absolutely ridiculous. I understand that a deposit is standard, but I’ve stayed in plenty of high-end hotels, and never encountered a hold exceeding $100. There are a lot jokes about “Instagram vs. Reality,” but it wasn’t until I stepped into my room that I realised I’d fallen victim to an influencer ad. I will provide a list of the main issues for easy reference: * The room is so tiny that it’s nearly impossible not to trip over something if you open a larger suitcase on the floor. Yes, I understand NYC hotel rooms are generally small, but there’s a point where the size becomes unacceptable given the price per night. * Extremely loud air-conditioning that turns on and off irregularly, regardless of the time of day or night. * Extremely poor soundproofing, made worse by drunk guests coming up to the rooms laughing and shouting from the lobby. * A shower head that doesn’t function properly, with very poor water pressure. Overall, I genuinely regret choosing The Ludlow for my New Year’s Eve stay, especially given the inflated NYE pricing. On the plus side, I’ve certainly learned my lesson. I’m honestly baffled by the number of positive reviews this place has. Reading through the negative ones, many guests mention almost exactly the same issues I experienced, so this clearly wasn’t just bad luck that I got an unsatisfactory room.

Very cozy hotel in a great location. The bed is extremely comfortable. Staff was very nice. The room service food was delicious. I’d definitely stay here again.
I had a corner room and the balcony below sticks out. (Hard to explain but they are very close together giving the balcony below a full view into the above room.) A man was out on his balcony in 20 degree weather peeping into my room.
