Location and free water
Slightly like a pimped up Travel Lodge - excellent base as location super central, staff kind and efficient, bed clean and room basic but very functional - good stopover option.

Very conveniently located in upper Midtown, just blocks from almost everything of interest. Easy walking distance to several subway lines. Very clean, modern and quiet. Much less expensive than nearby chain hotels.
I’m hard pressed to find a single negative.

Close to line E from JFK airport, also in walking distance to other lines.
Coffee and tea bar were well-equipped.
Free laundry including detergent and dryer.
Iron and ironing board available in my room.
No noise from neighboring rooms.
Daily cleaning.
First I was put in a room facing the backyard, exposed to loud noise from machinery, got a quieter room facing 51st street after requesting it.
Bed was way too soft and too short for me.
Room size was above NYC average but interior was rather old.

Wonderful
Its location was exceptional. Finding a room withe 2 beds and two baths was a total win and it was reasonably priced. Front desk staff were friendly and helpful. We especially appreciated the water available on every floor.
The room felt worn. Nothing was wrong with anything and everything was clean, it just didn’t feel fresh. This is probably extremely nit-picky, but a different color temperature on the light bulbs would help a lot.

Very Poor
Location maybe but quite an lots of hotel around that area.
Extremely disappointing experience – hotel failed to honor reservation
I had a confirmed 5-night reservation at The Jewel Hotel New York (March 18–23), and my experience was extremely disappointing and stressful.
I arrived at the hotel around 12:30 AM after a long journey, only to be told by reception that they “did not expect me to arrive” because it was late. This is completely unacceptable, as my booking was valid for that night and no arrival time restriction was ever communicated.
I was then informed there was a water leakage issue, and after a long and exhausting discussion until around 2:30 AM, the hotel refused to accommodate me. Instead, I was forced to relocate to another hotel for the night, which was further away and less convenient. Most importantly, I had to pay $280 for this alternative hotel myself under pressure.
This situation caused significant inconvenience and distress. I lost valuable time in the middle of the night, had almost no sleep, and experienced physical discomfort including red eyes, dizziness, and fatigue. My plans the following day were seriously affected.
When I returned to the hotel the next day, the manager refused to reimburse my $281 cost. Instead, they offered a $121 discount for one night or a free night for a future stay, which is clearly insufficient and does not cover the loss I incurred.
Throughout the process, I felt a clear lack of responsibility and care from management. Communication was dismissive, and there appeared to be no effective complaint handling process available to address the issue fairly. This left me feeling extremely uncomfortable even when returning to the hotel afterwards.
And no water tea Etc supplier in the room and we had to go other floor.
This is not how a hotel should treat its guests. Failing to honor a confirmed reservation, refusing to take responsibility, and not providing a proper resolution is unacceptable.
I strongly advise future guests to be cautious when booking this hotel.

The amenities were great! Filtered water station on every floor, a laundry room that was complimentary, and the location was excellent. The staff was super friendly and responsive to every question we had. Easy check-in and check out process. Lots of stations on the tv, there was kitchenette in the rooms.

Wonderful
Friendly staff and an incredible location. The hotel is well prepared to welcome a large number of tourists, offering a convenient lounge with coffee and tea and a smooth process for storing bags before check-in. They also gave me the quiet room I requested, and it was perfect
The only thing I didn’t like was that the towels were removed every day. It would be better if they had a policy to leave them unless the guest requests a change. I also think the staff should have proper seating or a counter to work from..there’s no reason for them to be standing all day
Thank you for your information!
