The hotel is right across the street from Lincoln Center which was the point of our trip. The location was perfect and not much more expensive then a hostel 2 blocks away.
The room was a bit small for 4 full size people. The bathroom was also somewhat small but it is Manhattan so not a major issue.

Poor
Great location and staff but doesn’t make up for the terrible condition of the rooms.
The rooms are very filthy. I changed from the first room with an air conditioner that rattled and was full of dust and mold to another room that had a better air conditioner but smelled like mold.
Everything is worn down and poorly maintained.
I was shocked at the state of neglect and disrepair.
Needs a complete remodel.

Disappointing
Front desk employees: So much patience….
I think Empire hotel could do a lot better. Its a pitty such an iconic place in Manhattan to have such much improvement to do.
Is not clean, room was extremely small, elevators didn’t work, keys had to be reseted bc they couldn’t be in the same pocket if the phone.
Showers didn’t have hot water….
Such a bad experience

Check in was quick and easy. Room seemed worn but clean.
Bathroom was in need of an update aesthetically but everything worked ok. Issue is that we woke up with bites on both of our bodies.

Poor
The location and the lobby. And the doormen were solicitous and helpful
The rooms window blind was broken, the head board was broken on one of the beds, the paint was peeling on bathroom doors, I didnt want to shower because the tile didnt look clean and I didnt have my water shoes. The rooms felt old and tired and run down

Staff at desk was very hostile. Long wit for room, not available until 3pm. Air conditioning was very complicated. Difficult to access bathroom at night,

Lobby was beautiful and location was excellent. Check in/check out was easy and efficient.
Overall the room was worn down and sad. My room was extremely dusty and I was sneezing all morning after sleeping in the room overnight. The shades were broken and held in place with zip-ties. There were holes in the wall where there had been previous damage or a floating shelf had been pulled lose. The room smelled stale and the towels smelled like paint. There was a layer of dust on everything. The hallway was noisy and you could hear people coming and going and the elevator making noise all night (and I was not right next to the elevator). For the price, this place was not worth it.

Best location in New York, especially if you are attending something at the Lincoln Center as I was. The lobby was beautiful, and the staff was accommodating, but I felt that the bathroom and the room was a little dated. It was very clean, but it was showing its age.
My friends heat never worked and she spent the whole night freezing. She called the front desk and Maintenance number at least 10 times and no answer. When she went down the next morning to complain, the guy at the front desk said it was her fault that she should’ve been calling zero even though the other numbers were on the phone. He did not offer to refund any money or anything and just was obstinate about it.

I was locked out of my room and couldn’t enter for 3 days straight. They literally had to drill the door open every time I had to go in.
The facilities are so old, it really really needs a refresh!

Location was good,staff was nice.
Everything seemed inaccessible, the pool, the rooftop, etc. we stayed because we are fans of gossip girl and we weren’t able to even bring my teenagers on the roof to get a pic at night. Just overpriced for small beds, bad decor and mediocre hotel.

Beautiful property. Loved that it is the actual hotel from the show, Gossip Girl. The rooftop bar was beautiful and the service excellent. There were two enclosed areas with sofas overlooking the NY skyline which were extremely cozy. Very much enjoyed the Gossip Girl cocktail. The staff greeted us when we arrived in our cab and took our luggage inside for us. The room was spectacular and very spacious. It was close to the Columbus Circle subway station for easy access downtown. I will be staying here at the Empire Hotel every time I visit NY in the future.
