Very Good
Location, historic building
No heat in first room. Windows did not close and lock completely. Moved to second room and heat/air unit broke again. Second had no safety lock, chain any any added security.

The lobby was beautiful and the staff was amazing.
The size of the room and bathroom was just terrible. I can't even explain how disappointed we was. With a special needs child this place was a big hazard. For example, the bathroom door paint was chipping.

Good
Great location. Good lines and comfortable bed.
It’s getting a little down at the heels (corroded woodwork in the bathroom; worn features in the bathroom). We were on the third floor and the street noise was bothersome.

The location was good
Couldn’t check us in on time, bed very small, limited facilities. Not worth the price at all

I have stayed here before and the lobby was nicely decorated, I do like this hotel and I love the location.
I paid a lot of money for the superior suite. I should have just booked the cheapest room and not wasted money on something that was not worth it. I didn’t have time to speak to anyone about it while I was there but I was disappointed with the room. The room was outdated, the sink was chipped with white tape over it, the carpet was snagged everywhere. I feel cheated, and I was only there for one night not even a full 24 hours. Also, there was one employee there at check in who I mentioned that I booked my room online as I was checking in and he said it won’t show up until a half hour later… it was as though I was bothering him. I asked him if he can please check anyway… and he looked at his computer and said the reservation is not there. So I walked away from him and waited for another staff member a second later who was very kind, she looked it up and found my reservation right away.

Very Good
Fabulous location. Comfy bed and bedding. Lovely staff.
No coffee pots. It’s hard to get up, get dressed, go round the corner to Starbucks or a more distant shop, then get ready. And the cleaning team talk loudly to each other while working.

Wonderful
The location was outstanding, right across the street from Lincoln Center. The staff was unfailingly courteous and helpful, the room very clean. We arrived a bit before check-in time, and the staff was able to hold our luggage until our room was ready. The location felt very safe and secure both during the day and walking back from a wedding venue late Saturday night. The hotel was a block from Central Park.
We would have appreciated a room safe for valuables. Our room, while having a beautiful view, needs additional lighting- there was an overhead light in the entryway and only one other lamp. Although it was 2 weeks before Christmas the rates seemed high.

Very Poor
Doormen were lovely
Filthy and run down. Very pricey and very old. Not clean there were eyelashes on the pillow case before I put my head down. Someone else’s ?eyelashes. Heater was as loud as a train. Bathroom filthy dried pee on the toilet seat upon arrival. Paint in room chipping bathroom mirror stained. Blinds and curtains filthy. All for $850 only stayed one night.

Poor
The location
The property is run down and in disrepair. Heating system did not work, one bed was broken and creaked every time we moved, shower would not turn off properly. Mirror was rusted, toilet did not flush properly.
There is no room service. This hotel does not deserve four stars. And the price is way too much for the quality.

Wonderful
As a solo female traveler, I was really concerned after reading some of the reviews — and they couldn’t have been further from the truth!
The staff: absolutely AMAZING (Kat <3).
The room: warm, clean, spacious, and with a spectacular view.
The bathroom: could’ve been a bit bigger, but it was perfectly sufficient — and the water pressure on the 10th floor was surprisingly good (not always the case in NYC!).
The lobby is super Instagrammable and cozy. The unlimited water is a big plus — the staff happily gives you small bottles whenever you ask.
I wouldn’t trade this hotel for any other! The location is fantastic. I had tickets to The Nutcracker and it took me literally one minute to get there. Central Park is just one street away (about a 3-minute walk), Columbus Circle is around 6 minutes, The Plaza about 15 minutes, and 5th Avenue is also very close.
If you’re hesitating because of other reviews, definitely book this place. I find the previous negative opinions very unfair!
I honestly find some of the previous reviews surprising. The corridors are not dark, and while the rooms may be a bit older in style, they are clean and well maintained — the wallpaper is perfectly intact. The TV is new (though who even has time to watch TV in New York?).
No coffee machine? There’s a Starbucks literally around the corner, and if that’s still too far, there’s a great coffee and ice-cream place right next door. Everything you need is just steps away.

I truly felt like a CEO or something staying here, lol. The staff made it happen and were always on point 24/7, opening the doors, guiding me to food that I wanted, and had a taxi in an instant if needed. The lobby/check-in area is beautiful. They have a huge decorated tree, with an awesome circular-looking staircase. It looks like something out of a movie. The room was better than what I expected when I saw the square feet, it had everything I needed to stay comfortable and it was quiet. The Lincoln Center is directly to the left when you walk out. I would not hesitate to stay here again. The price for 4 days beats anyone in that area. Thank you to the Empire for treating a disabled veteran with nothing but respect and helping at a moment's notice, it really made my vacation a memorable trip that U won't be forgetting anytime soon. ?
Wish they had breakfast and outlets not under the tables. Thkx
