We stayed at the San Carlos Hotel for three nights as a family of four — two parents and two teenage daughters — and had a wonderful experience.
We stayed in the Premier Suite, which had a queen-size bed and 1.5 bathrooms. We opened the sofa bed in the living room for our daughters, and the suite was still spacious and very comfortable for all four of us. The room was very clean, pleasant, well air-conditioned, and relatively quiet, especially considering the hotel’s very central location in New York City.
The staff were friendly, welcoming, and always happy to help whenever we needed anything. The location was excellent and made it very convenient to explore the city.
We truly enjoyed our stay and would happily stay here again. Highly recommended, especially for families!
The coffee machine in the kitchenette could be improved, as it wasn’t very intuitive or user-friendly.

Fantastic location, ideal for all attractions. Clean, modern rooms with all the facilities we needed. The kitchen in the room is something we looked for, and it has everything as expected. Beds, including sofa bed are comfortable and the aircon in the room was perfect for the warm nights. The staff are lovely, always chatty, helpful and welcoming. No complaints.

Good midtown location. As others have pointed out, rooms are large, especially in comparison to the usual room size in NYC. Given the heat and humidity of August, the ability to control the room temperature was especially welcome.

The San Carlos Hotel exceeded my expectations. From the moment I walked in the staff were friendly and very accommodating and helpful. The room I had was very big and I appreciated the kitchenette with a microwave to heat up meals. The location was great - close to subway, Grand Central and walking distance to major attractions.
It would be great to have an onsite laundry, but reception provided me with a couple of other options - which pick up and deliver to the hotel.
