Clean comfortable simple. For street noise: the quietest NYC hotel I have ever stayed in, actually. Doorman/guard in the lobby 24/7. Nice atmosphere— for a budget hotel. Plus, Zabar’s is just up the block (corner of broadway): so your breakfast of champions awaits!
This is not a luxury hotel. Know ahead of time that you are getting a tiny room; that the elevator isnt the fastest or the quietest; that you can hear the rooms from the hallway and vice versa. Bring a noise machine and you’ll get a good night’s rest.

The hotel is very cozy, welcoming, and clean. The location is great! Very close to Central Park and all sorts of stores for any needs you might have.
The design of the hotel is great. Not only is the hotel itself and the signage in the hallways cute, but there are all sorts of little design elements in the room that add charm and functionality. A wall port that includes USB, a little window to open in the shower, etc. I found it all very cozy, and a great hotel for my first ever trip to NYC.
The night attendant at the front desk is so cool and welcoming. I wish I could remember his name. Either way, he is awesome!
The window shade, while having a cool roller design, did NOT block out the sun at all. Hotels are supposed to have the best blackout curtains. This shade allowed in all sunlight. Honestly, this is the worst sunlight blockage I’ve ever experienced in a hotel. Even a Motel 6 has thick curtains to allow one to sleep past 7 AM.
There is only a weak shower curtain between the shower and toilet, meaning that it is impossible to take a shower without getting water all over the bathroom floor.
The sink is pathetically designed, with a spout that sits too close to the edge of the sink itself. This means that to wash your hands, you must rub your hands against the sink while trying to access the water. While it might have looked like a cute design choice, it is not functional at all.

Low price, clean, staff was nice. It was fine, I checked in, dropped my bag, and went out to visit friends. I came back hours later and went right to sleep. I got up in the morning, brushed my teeth and left.
If I had been with my wife, she would not have liked the room, it was too small for her. But I just wanted a clean and convenient place to sleep.

The staff, including Miguel and Nadine, was incredibly pleasant and welcoming. Whenever I encountered any issues, they were quick to respond and find a resolution. Their willingness to help made this trip to NYC even more enjoyable!
What I didn’t like about my stay was the room sizes were quite small, but, of course, that’s New York for you. Additionally, I noticed that the shower heads were fixed and sat too high, which made it difficult for someone my height to use comfortably. It might be a good idea to install detachable shower heads for shorter individuals like myself.

The location was absolutely amazing.
Very close to Central Park, yet very calm and quiet neighborhood
The rooms are very small, which was expected.
If you're traveling solo, and you're not planning to spend your time in the hotel, I think it's perfect.
It would be great if there was also a small stool in the room, so you could sit on something other than the bed

The Riverside Hotel sits at an ideal location in Manhattan with immediate access to a number of notable places to easily access within walking distance. Rooms are very well maintained and the staff is beyond helpful and considerate.
Shower floor is not well separated from the rest of bathroom leading to easy leakage elsewhere. Sink is also awkwardly built needing you to place hands right up against its edge to wash hands.

The low cost for a single room on the Upper West Side is a great deal.
The room is VERY small, the bed just fits in it, plus a small sink and the bathroom. There's no coffee in the room, just in the lobby in the morning. No breakfast. And no TV unless you buy movies or connect your phone to access your own streaming services - I found that especially annoying.
