I stayed at this property for a short break with my 14 year old daughter and a friend, staying in 2 separate rooms. In line with usual hotel policies, a deposit was taken for both rooms when we checked in. These were done as a “hold” payments rather than being debited to my account. No issues with that. I travel with work a lot and this is a general practice. At check out I handed the keys for my room to the male receptionist who checked his system and outlined all was in order and wished us a safe journey. Two days after returning I noticed one of the hold payments had been actually debited to my account. The other was still pending. I immediately contacted booking.com who told me this would be released back to my account but when I asked why the two payments were being treated differently I was advised a smoking charge had been applied to the room my daughter and I were in. I have never smoked or vaped in my life so this can not be a justified charge so I immediately challenged it to be told the room had an air quality sensor which triggered and applied the charge. I repeated my assertion that it could not possibly be corrected and was told all I could go was now dispute through this through my bank (which I have done!) I have asked for evidence showing the date and time of the sensor triggering but as yet have not received this. Looking into this further, it appears such smoking fees appear to be applied on a regular basis with many people in the same situation as me. I will pursue this as it is not a fair charge and I feel I am being scammed by the hotel. This has ruined my experience with my daughter.

The best thing about this hotel is the location.
They scam you with fake smoking charges at over 400 USD each due to some supposed detectors they have. Mine included purportedly smoking at a time in which I wasn't in the room, and at 5 AM, which is obviously ridiculous. Nobody on the premises is able to review or otherwise revert the fake smoking charges. They refer to a supposed general manager who is never in and doesn't answer emails. Stay away from this place.

Location, location, location could not get better at this value, right on Times Square, all transport options close by, walk to most points if interest, i.e. Central Park etc. This is a Value for money stay. Rooms are basic and small, but clean andf serviced, if you want more, then pay $$$$$. The room is just to sleep and cleanup in after all.
Would have liked a small fridge, and microwave. Food is expensive in the part of NY. Need to do small maintenance tasks in rooms as well, this said, did not distract from a great stay.

It really wasn’t great. It’s close to Time Square, which is nice, the hotel itself is pretty disappointing.
No hot water on our first day, no tea, coffee or water in the room, vending machine broken, public spaces pretty dirty (eg chairs in the lobby and the lifts). I won’t be staying here again.
