The Intercontinental Barclays New York may look like a good hotel at first: the room is comfortable, the bed is fine, and the location is convenient. But all of that falls apart the moment you discover the endless hidden fees that are nowhere near clear when you book.
It’s unbelievable how they manage to turn an “okay” stay into something frustrating and outrageously expensive. The extra charges are so excessive and so poorly explained that you only realize the damage when you get the final bill.
And the room service? Absolutely ridiculous. I expected high prices in New York, but what they charge here is beyond unreasonable. It’s literally more expensive than eating at a proper restaurant in the city. On top of the already inflated food prices, they add a $10 delivery fee, a 25% service charge, and then still expect you to leave a tip.
The result? Over $150 for a club sandwich, a soup, fries, and two Coca-Colas.
Honestly: that’s insane.
This hotel gives the clear impression that it wants to squeeze the guest in every possible way, adding fees and inflating even the most basic services.
If you value transparency and don’t want to leave feeling taken advantage of, look elsewhere. Here, the comfort does not justify the frustration.
