Room was good and so was the location. The staff at the front desk were not very friendly or accommodating. We arrived early from a long flight from Australia and asked for an early check in. The system was down apparently and they were not able to help us.

Location! Room cleanliness. Convenience like umbrellas in the room , and easy access to taxi or uber or subway! Friendly staff- Angel who assisted with luggage bags, was both thoughtful and kind.

Classic property. Location is excellent. Gym is large and very well-equipped.
Room decor is tired. Walls very thin. Friendliness of front-of-house staff very mixed. Many early mornings, no one greeted me as I moved through the deserted lobby. Noted interaction of guests with a toddler asking for hot water to prep baby food 10 minutes before breakfast began being turned away.

The beds were incredibly comfortable—one of the best nights of sleep I’ve had in a hotel. The room was very clean, and everything felt fresh and newly renovated. You can really tell they’ve updated the property nicely. Would absolutely stay here again!
What we didn’t like:
We were in town celebrating our children’s engagement, which made the stay especially meaningful. After returning to our room around 1:30 a.m., we were simply having a normal conversation—not being loud—and received a call from security about noise complaints. That was extremely disappointing and frankly unacceptable. It made us feel like we couldn’t even speak in our own room, and clearly points to very poor soundproofing.

Beautiful, large room especially for downtown NYC. Very comfortable bed and room was kept nice and clean throughout our stay.
The room did not have any water provided, which I would consider a basic expectation for any hotel, particularly one that markets itself as five-star. When we came in from a night in town at 1am and asked a member of staff for some water, we were told there was a store down the street. I thought this was extremely unaccommodating and disappointing, telling customers paying a lot of money to stay at this luxury hotel, to go out into the streets at night and get it yourself! This was not in line with the level of service expected for a hotel of this price point.

The staff was extremely professional and friendly.
Angel, who works outside, was extremely helpful. He followed up with us and remembered where we told him we planned to visit. He is valuable to your hotel!
We also liked the bakery next door, Ole & Steen for breakfast items.

The property is clean, well maintained, and conveniently located.
Two main issues were evident: (1) The staff could improve their customer service skills across all areas, as they tended not to listen attentively to clients. Service in the restaurant was slow, with employees often engaging in conversation among themselves. (2) The room with two beds was small, and the bed was not spacious enough for both my wife and me to sleep comfortably.

Historical building with good renovations, so not felt old at all. rooms are quite big for nyc standards. overall amenities are high quality.
