Wonderful
It is in a great location, with friendly staff, and is clean. They have a bar on the first floor with excellent music.
The first night our A/C was not working properly, but they fixed the problem immediately.

Great- convenient location to shows. Room was clean. Didn't use the coupons for food next door, but was nice to have that option.

Wonderful
The location was fantastic. Easy walk to many food options, Penn Station, Times Square, Avenue of the Americas, and lots of sites. Multiple subway lines within a block or two. The shower was great. Room was small, but that's Manhattan. Staff was really nice. Loud from the music at the bar downstairs, but not too late.

Excellent location. Staff was great. Bed comfortable. Room was small, but we expected that. Dinner at Garvey's was good and discount appreciated.
Air conditioning was unpredictable, it was either off or running wild - no control. Shower horrible, overhead dribbled, no temperature control, scalding HOT water - VERY DANGEROUS!

Alfonso was courteous, knowledge and a very well communicated. The hotel was nice just needed some updates and amenities. There were extra pillows and blankets in the linen closet. Room was excellent. Had two TVs. Irish pub was warm and nice place with live music and numerous TVs so you can watch the game. Food was really good. Fiance got the burger and raved about it. The next morning I talked to the bartender about the discount and he couldn't give me my money back but he gave me a free coffee, which I was supposed to have and my fiance a drinky drink. Never had any problems with noise, smells, or nasty people. Everything smelt wonderful in our room and the doors really blocked out the noise outside.
Unfortunately there was no free breakfast or coffee in the room. The hot water took at least 5 real minutes to warm up. The lights never came on outside on our terrace (we had the penthouse) The room waslacking decorations and was definitely feeling old looking. Two TVs two remotes that worked both TVs at the same time. The elevator had trouble coming to our floor when we pushed the button. Had to push it numerous times. There was no view. I reserved a room with a balcony. The Irish pub was really pricey and they forgot to give us our free drink and discount on our meal. Bathroom door was tough to work (open and close) There was no cups or plastic protection for the ice bucket. Most of the switches in the room did not work. No note pad and pen.

The only thing good about this dump is the location
We work for a nonprofit and they refused to remove $200 in taxes. I left a phone message for the Hotel's manager. He didn't return my call. I left my businsss card at the front desk and asked him to call me; he didn't. The arrogance is astounding. My first and last stay at Hotel Shocard!

I loved being in the heart of Times Square. The hotel was small and cozy. I enjoyed feeling like I was in a bubble away from the world.
I really don't have any complaints.

Pleasant
The location is great and though it is right next to Times Square it is not noisy at all. The room was quite dark with the only window leading to a tight shaft, so no light could get in. We had a problematic shower and struggled to get hot water. The staff dealt with it quite fast but it always took a while to shower (which is important to know if you're rushing to an event). The room was cute but very tight. Fine for a short stay.

The location was great.
The room was very small. You could not walk on either side of the bed. The window was "blacked out" so there was no natural light in the room whatsoever. The water was scalding hot, the bed was very uncomfortable, and everything was just old. We arrived prior to check in time and were told that we had to pay $57 in cash for early check-in (which I foolishly did as we were tired from travelling.) We stepped out for a bit on the 2nd day and when we returned, our key would not work. We went to the front desk to tell the front desk agent, and she started texting someone and then said it would be a few minutes. She finally took the key and tapped it under the desk and said that it should work now, That just seemed super sketchy to me after the vibe of everything leading up to it. We checked out right after that and found accommodations elsewhere.

Good
Really good location between the Port Authority and other subway stations. It’s a short walk from the Newark AirPort Express bus stop. For NYC the price matched my expectations in general.
Cleanliness needs improvement - the extra blanket on top of the closet smelled and looked untouched for ages. I needed it because the AC was broken, not a single dial worked on the machine or remote. The shower partition was too narrow to block water effectively, so I had to be careful not to flood the floor. The water ran too hot so the steam was a lot, and when I left the bathroom door ajar it caused the fire alarm to ring.

The location was great, within walking distance from everything we wanted to do. The staff was incredibly nice and helpful.
When we got there we were told the machine to make the keys was down so we couldn't get keys to our room. We were told we'd have them within an hour, we waited and did not get them. Stopped and asked on our way out because we had stuff planned and they still did not have them made. The room was incredibly small, the only way to get from one side to the other was to crawl across the bed if we were both in the room. We reserved a king room and though the platform the mattress was on was definitely a king the mattress was only a queen and we kept hitting the edge of the platform since it stuck out several inches past the mattress.

Wonderful
The check-in process was super quick and easy and they held our bags for us both before and after our stay. They also give you a free voucher for a drink at the bar downstairs which was nice. Comfortable bed and pillows as well. Overall was a nice stay. Other reviews complained about the room being small, but I found it to be alright for two people, especially when you are visiting to explore the city and not spending your day in the room.
The 1 bedroom unit didn't have a shower door so water gets all over the floor, but not a huge deal if you put a towel down. There was also a cockroach in our room which I know is hard to prevent in NYC but still kind of gross and freaked me out.

I love the location of the property. the Customer Service agent, Natalia was absolutely amazing and went above and beyond one of the main reasons I would return.
The penthouse suite, has a lot of opportunities. The bathroom tub while deep has no stopper . The handles on the sink is not a simple, hot or cold. You have to turn them in weird directions to work. The microwave does not work. The patio is beautiful and roomy but It would be absolutely amazing if the lights that strung across worked .

Poor
The only good thing was the location.
The shower was freezing and it would be impossible to make it work properly. Even after asking the staff for help they did not make it work. The room was very hot and the thermostat could only be changed with a staff member, which they did not do correctly. It was still very hot so I had to figure it out by myself to make it work.

The staff was kind, the sleep was good given the location it was quite.
The explanation of where to park was not great. There are several iconn parking garages and the one we ended up at did not contract with this hotel so we paid significantly more for parking than planned.
