I stayed at Hotel Shocard for a week and, after reading some previous reviews, I’ll admit I arrived feeling quite apprehensive. However, I can honestly say I had a completely positive experience and zero complaints.
The room size was absolutely perfect for two people — especially by New York standards. It was comfortable, well laid out, and gave us enough space to properly settle in for the week without feeling cramped. Cleanliness was spot on: fresh linens, spotless bathroom, and no issues whatsoever with water, heating, or facilities during our stay.
The staff were friendly and professional throughout. Check-in was smooth, and any small queries we had were handled quickly and politely. We experienced none of the issues mentioned in some older reviews — no flooding, no water problems, no alarms, and no housekeeping concerns. Everything felt well managed and organised.
Location-wise, it’s fantastic — right in the heart of the city, making it easy to walk or hop on transport anywhere. For the price we paid, the value for money was genuinely excellent, especially in New York where hotel costs can be eye-watering.
If you’re feeling nervous because of past reviews, don’t be. Our experience was comfortable, clean, and great value. I would absolutely stay here again.

Well the bed was very comfortable. And it’s right next to time square. It’s perfect for 1 person stay the rooms are just a bed small.
The entrance is confusing it feels like you are going into a bar the actual entrance is a corner it looks sketchy!!! The space of the hotel is very very small our window has no view of anything it was a brick wall so no sunlight.

No bugs or anything. Close to Broadway shows.
No coffee. The lobby should offer it if there are no pots in your room. They give you ONE voucher for ONE coffee a day at the next door restaurant. Went down at 7 for a morning coffee and the restaurant doesn’t open until 8 am. Next day went down at 8 am and no one was there to open the restaurant. If you are a coffee person like me pack a travel one cupper. Trust me or you gotta go buy coffee somewhere everyday to wake up.

i liked the privacy and the cozy vibes it gave, also having a fridge in the room made it better. the AC was noisy but it worked REALLY well, having toiletries (shower gel, shampoo & conditioner) next to the shower was a convenient option.
the main picture creates a diff idea from what the hotel looks like, it is a tiny hotel with a tiny reception which is shared with a pub. there were PLENTY trash bags next to the tiny elevator and the AC was VERY loud. you gotta be careful with the hot water since it’s BOILINGGGG.
